My K-Bar Mod...

Just an easy little mod, It started out as one of the Operation Iraqi Freedom knives with the gold decal on the blade. I really can't stand coated blades and I always thought the decal was cheesy as a pizza. I bought the knife at the BX at F.O.B Warrior in Kirkuk sometime in 2005. It has been sitting a drawer gathering dust until now. I used Aircraft paint remover to strip the ugly plastic coating and decal from the entire knife without harm to the stacked leather handle. The finish on the now uncoated blade is a really attractive stonewash.

Looks good, but it seems to me that it was a collector's knife prior to the mods right? Why not just keep it as it was, and buy a plain jane K bar?

Mehh, probably...I don't have many fond memories of that place and time so no biggie to me. I wouldn't spend the $ for another K-Bar, rather have a Rock.
