Explain your screen name

#1

Post by Evil D »

Some of them are fairly obvious, like people's names and such (not much explanation for "sal" lol) but others are a total mystery. What's your screen name mean?

Mine is an old high school nickname. My name is David and people have called me Evil D for years (well, the people I grew up with anyway). It's also a play on words, flipping the D around to the end of "devil". I'm really not evil though, I promose :D

Before that, a few friends used to call me hippie because I had really long hair when I was younger. That doesn't suit me very well these days since I shave my head lol.

When picking a name, I came up with Jazz back in '07, because I was heavily into jazz back then. I go through stages in music. Started out a metalhead in the 80's, blues and jazz, country, and now I'm mostly listening to (and playing on guitar) metal - particularly Exodus, Heathen, Laaz Rockit... I like a lot of music stlyes, even techno, but Jazz sounds cool, and nobody had the name already.
- best wishes, Jazz.

My high school nickname was S-Squared because my initials are S.S. I added the middle initial for an email address (sr.square@whatever.com) which led to senorsquare.

"Invective" is just a fun word to say. Nothing more than that.

I'm a drummer and I enjoy the history behind the Cymbals that I play.

Alchemist, Avedis I, began making Zildjian Cymbals in a small Constantinople foundry in 1623.

Mine is a mashup of two sci-fi franchises: Star Wars and Star Trek. Way back when, I was looking for a Star Wars themed name. I can't remember why I went with Jabba the Hutt (I never did particularly care for him), but I do know that all the Vaders, Yodas, and Fetts seemed to be taken already. Then I tacked on 359 as a tribute to Star Trek, because Wolf 359 was the sector where the Federation had their first major battle with the Borg.

Mine is pretty easy to interpret, since I was making a name for this Spyderco forum I chose my favorite knife they made. I do have dreams of finding and acquiring more of these great knives, though prices sure seem to be going up.

Mine's quite obvious. Both my father and grandfather built and maintained cellular and broadcast towers (and rooftop sites etc.). My father still does, and I did full time for a number of years myself, though now it's more of a weekend and evening gig for me while I'm in college full time. I'm a 3rd generation rigger.

Mine is from way back in High School. My vehicle at the time was fairly old and I had a guy tell me it was in Exceptional condition. It kinda stuck and a few years later I changed the tags to personalized ones. Xceptnl was the best I could do with only 7 characters.

First two letters of my first name + first three letters of my last name.

Oh...and if you link each one to a date in the Chinese Zodiac and use a decrypting ring it predicts the date of the zombie apocalypse.

My name is Nicolas and I'm, next to Spyderco also a StarWars fan. StarWars is another of my passions. I've been collecting StarWars since the early '80 and now have a house full of StarWars stuff. IG-88 is one of my favourite droids. Its a bounty hunter/Assassin Droid and seen I'm always on the hunt for the next Spyderco to add to the collection of captured heads I thought it was an appropriate forumnick.

In the ancient Sumerian poem "The Epic of Gilgamesh" there is a character named Enkidu. He is a wild man who lives in the woods. Enkidu and Gilgamesh sort of parallel Cane and Abel from the Bible. I like to backpack, camp, forage wild edibles, bushcraft, and all that stuff. I added "de" to the end of Enkidu to make it Enki-dude. Thanks for asking!!

I really like having a lot of pockets. My favorite pair of pants is the Blaklader Workwear 1500, which has something like 17 pockets. 'Nuff said.
