The X-ray tech jumped when he saw mine. :D

He had a really puzzled look when he tried to see where my necklace was and couldn't find anything hanging on my chest. :)

It's a .38 slug near my heart. I got it in 1990.

Looks lodged upwards against a rib chuck , look like your one lucky bunny .
Did you not notice a lack of a exit wound when you were shot ?.
Or was it a case of too risky to remove ? has it started to irritate your lung mate ?.
And what is the suggested course of action , hope whatever happens you recover well .
If it isn't causing probs and the x ray was for something else then its a cool pic to keep .
Did you get a copy or is this a picture taken in hospital .
I've tried to get done x rays of my knee but they won't allow them to be given out here in the uk via nhs .

It's lodged against a rib and it's encapsulated in tissue. Doc says as long as it's not bothering me, they won't risk removing it. I have to keep tabs on it so we'll know if it moves. Yep, I asked for a soft copy of the hospital pic. I have to get an x-ray every year or two to monitor the bullet. First time I ever thought of getting a digital copy.

Cool that its not causing trouble , would you mind me asking the circumstances in which it happened .
Please excuse me if that's too private just curiosity more than nosiness :D .
And again apologies for all the questions but I'm not up on bullets and the velocity that round is usually fired at .
But is it usually a lethal calibre of bullet , I have a tip of a blow dart snapped off in my tricep that my friend shot me with .
A bit pathetic compared to yours though ;) . Cheers chuck ATB .

Man. I'm sure that's quite the story, but that's quite the pic, Chuck. Hope it stays put.

Thanks DougC. I got the short end that time but it did wake me up to the kind of life I was leading. One of the few times I wasn't carrying.

Do you ever set off magnetometers at the airport?

I know my replacement hip sets off the alarms every time I pass through the screening point. I'm on a first name basis with a number of TSA agents...

Chuck, I wouldn't mind a PM one the situation, if you have time. Glad you're "OK" still and that it didn't penetrate too deeply.

I need to send you a print I made of an X-Ray of a guy at work. I'll do so once I get home (at work now). He limped around work for three weeks until he was in too much pain to function, then went to see a doc, too late to set the bones.

Glad to see it's staying put!

If that was on the other side, you'd probably not have been so lucky.

Glad to know you are still going to be around Chuck. I would stay clear of MRI machines if I were you. That thing could start to move again!

Whew! Close one, glad the shooter wasn't a better shot.

One thing for sure, you will always have at least one bullet.

Yes, I have to explain why too. I usually just take a radiology report if I travel by plane.

Hehe, I lucked out that time and I believe it turned out that way because there may be a reason that the big guy kept me alive. I still have to find out what it is.
