Just curious, Chuck - what's it like going through the airport?

I usually tell the security folks manning the magnetometer, that I have a metallic object in my body before I go through. They just tell me to go through and I present the radiology report. I get a patdown and I'm through. :)

Well, I hate for someone to get wounded like that but it has some cool factor at least. I had brain surgery once and have a 4 inch scar on the side of my head that's a good conversation piece.

That's good. I wouldn't trust the rep's from the TSA in the good ol' USA to be as understanding.

Since your body has encapsulated the bullet, how long will it be before it is broken down? Does the blood dissolve the metal compounds?

I don't think my body can break down an FMJ bullet. It's probably gonna last longer than my body. :)

I wonder how the TSA would handle it, give me an x-ray while I'm nude probably. :)

"I wonder how the TSA would handle it, give me an x-ray while I'm nude probably." Most likely a cavity check as well.

-And I have of late been wondering if I should continue carrying our standard 158g LSWCHP +P NYCLAD or move to the "new" NY load, the 135g short barrel GDHP +P!?!?!

Radiologically, looks like either would have done better, [\Obi Wan voice]"from a certain point of view."[end Obi Wan voice/]

Glad you are okay Chuck. God bless.

I wear an insulin pump. They x-rayed me and took me off to the side... and they wiped something on my hands and had me wait.

Not really sure what they were doing... It almost seems like they're testing for one substance or something. I'm sure I could read more into it via google.

Probably more than likely trace compound of explosive.
Or chemicals that are used to make home made bombs , the residue is permeated into the pores.
And will remain in the sweat pores on the palms and fingers .
All drugs they need to get proof of carrying clothes swabs etc .
For example in the uk you can't be charged for taking drugs but only possession .
The us is different I believe and consuming narcotics is an offence .

I can't. During cold nights, I seem to get a whiff of metalic smell. Probably "placebo effect". :D

Hope it stays put Chuck. I think for the future X-rays you should bring a different spydie every year. :)
