There is no air conditioning in the locker room at the firehouse. We do have an ice machine though. So I made an improvised A/C unit :D . it works pretty well.

Is that brilliance Tony or just what happens when the shifts get long and it's a slow night? Either way I am impressed!

Looks like an efficient ice melter (room air conditioner - I'm not so sure) ;)

I built a cooled PC case one time using a dorm room sized fridge, by running some dryer hose between the fridge and the side of the case and a couple fans to move cold air. I overclocked the crap out of that computer. It worked really well for how crude it was.

Brilliant idea! My only question, Tony, is whether this model is rated to 15 SEER efficiency and 34,600 BTU (3 Ton). I'm thinking it's more along the lines of 28,430 BTU. :p :D ;) JK, of course. Nicely done, Tony. ;)

I have had it on all day...the only downside is that the cubes are so small I need to refill about once every hour or so. I need to freeze a big block of ice for my next work day.

Yep -- evap cooling doesn't need to be complex; Tony that's a cool rig (sic) you've made there.
I'm running a little one ton box AC, and you've inspired me to try a version of this myself -- got most of the components and a 5 lb bag of ice in the freezer... :)

I think it will work better with a big block of ice than cubes...i just put a 3 gallon pot of water in the freezer, I work again on Saturday so it should be frozen solid by then :D

Copper tubing in a spiral layout on a fan and then running into a cooler of ice with a water pump to circulate the ice cold water.....you give people enough time and they will rig up some interseting things.

Tony,
Thank you for the tip. I never thought about it. There is no AC in our office either. There are days when temperature goes over 90 + humid.
