Ha! Good point, Ken. I've been married 25 years and this is one of those areas that I've learned to be stealthy about.

Every single kitchen knife we have I've purchased and maintained. To keep the peace, I give her the illusion that the kitchen is "her zone" so that she gives me similar latitude in the garage and workshop - those areas are "mine!" :cool:

Whenever the wife gets peevish, I gently remind her I don't gamble, I don't run around, I don't drink to excess, I don't fly out to Vegas every other weekend, and as far as midlife crises go, Spydies are a lot less expensive than sports cars.

She has her shoes, I have my knives, as long as the bills are paid at the end of the month, we are good... Every once in a while she gets a pink knife and that seems to keep her happy.

Yeah, basically if you enjoy collectign knives or whatever and you can afford it,
then all is good. Life is a balance.

I keep a separate knife fund, stay out of the household funds, and save up for what I want. Knife fund gets funded from B-day $$, selling knives, other stuff, etc. She is actually somewhat excited for me when I get something new. Happy happy happy!
