I will assist in a Victorynox assembly procedure

#1

Post by psimonl »

Just to tell you that tomorrow, with my 8 years old boy, we will attend a demonstration of how Victorynox knives are produced.

It will be a private presentation and I will try to post as many pictures as possible.

Take care,

Simon

I am jealous of you and your son! I've only lately been bit by the SAK bug, though I do own four of them. The only thing that is keeping me from buying more, is that I want to buy more knives!

Enjoy your trip and I look forward to your pics.

Is it the one at MEC? I tried to sign up but they don't take reservations over the phone, and I don't want to drive 2 hours in traffic just to go fill a form...

Yes, JZMTL. It was. And was worth it. Knowing before, I would have subscribe your name. And it was possible to just walk in and wait a couple of minutes. The total procedure took 8-9 minutes. The model is the Spartan: big and small knife. flat screwdriver, corkscrew, pointy dagger thing (90 degree) toothpick, twizzers and bottle opener. 21$.

Ah ****, didn't they do walk ins or I'd go. I wish they'd let people do other combinations though.

I'd make one with seven big knives. Then I'd only have to sharpen once a week.

Thanks for the pics, Simon! Looks like a fun experience!

Outstanding pictures! That looked really cool!

Loved how clean and prestine the machinery is, and I love how in spite of modern technology and machinery, you still gotta put in some elbow grease with hammer and file to get the job done and done right. Cool knife!

Thank you for sharing these pictures! Looked like y'all had a most wonderful time.

My son was so proud he took the SAK to the birthday party he was invited to. I had to tell the story of the knife to the parents, but being scouts, they were just jealous about it.

They know I am a knife lover, but having a child assembling his own tool is something you don't get to live often.....

Take care

You are right.... But I think the machine was made just to built 1-2 models..... But I can tell you that the knife my son has is as sturdy as the SAK I had for the past 28 years....

How true! In my opinion you also did good work in father/son relationship.

Very cool your son got to make his own knife. Certainly an experience he will keep for a lifetime :) Kudos :)

Peter I'm going to adopt your gold tagline of Spyderco's motto if you don't mind. The kind of sentiment it professes warrants further exposure :)

That is really sweet. I like that Victorinox will take the time to do such a thing. They seem to be a truely blessed company.

Now where do we sign up for the Spyderco version? lol

For only three payments of $39.99, I'll send you a bag of endura parts*, how's that? :D

*Some improvisation and fabrication may be required
