fenix light issues?

#1

Post by casey1 »

my LD01 will turn on and be useful, but after a few minutes if i turn it off, it won't turn on again for a long time... I use lithium AAA batteries and treat it well... any thoughts?

Like Energizer lithiums? How long do you keep it on before shutting it off and are you holding the light or letting it free-stand?

Unlike knives anything wrong would have to be fixed by them. If its still under warranty (not sure what Fenix's warranty is) I would email them. Otherwise toss it and buy another if it bothers you.

There are lights on the market you can replace the light engine at will but that isn't one of them.

Yea should be holding up well. I thought it took a bit too much heat. That's what I would try. Goodluck!

Mine acts like that when a battery dies. I use Eneloop rechargable AAA batteries. They last a long time like brand new. Then all of a sudden they are dead. Almost with no warning.

I like small flashlights and only want ones that use AA or AAA batteries. I use the rechargable ones but you can get them anywhere when away from the house. I may loose some performance in lumens or something but I don't need much. The Fenix LD01 is a perfect light for me.

Mine quit working completely. Oddly enough it wasn't a light I used often but I kept a fresh battery in it. Went to do my random check on gear as usual and it turned on for less than a second and then nothing. It certainly wasn't abused or battered. It's virtually new. Kind of a bummer.

This has solved many of my flashlight issues in the past, especially on ones with aluminum bodies. A little rubbing alcohol and a towel will usually get them back and running again.

My instruction manual for my LD01 suggests cleaning contact points (PCB board, threads etc) They do have a 24 month warranty if it's not that old.

Not 100% sure, but when it comes to AA or AAA models; I believe Fenix recommends only using alkalines or rechargeables but not lithiums.
