I love twins. But one thing I like even more is triples. They have a lot of torque and horsepower and still have that throaty growl of a twin. My first bike was a triple. It was a superb machine and dead reliable.
The only bike that has tempted me recently was the Speed Triple a mate had. I could not get over how smooth the engine was. And that sound …quite addictive.
The fact I could see clearly through the mirrors was the icing on the cake. :)

Chris, a group of us got together on the Beemer GS 30th anniversary and did a 30,000k’s in 30 days challenge using one 1200 GS. That bike impressed me with its ability to be ridden long distance (1000 km days) and remain comfortable and reliable.

That Speed Triple is pretty awesome! It would tempt me, too.

Back in the early 70's I had a Suzuki 550 GT triple. It was fast, fun, and had a great sound.

It was like this one (not my bike but identical):

I rode this bike all over the USA, literally. Great fun, great bike. It was a two-cycle.

Speaking of triples, I had one of these in the early 70’s.
Nothing like the sound and power of that 2-stroke triple.

I actually wasnt interested in this bike but I got a killer deal on it. Figured I would ride it around for a while and then sell it. I should be able to make some money off of it.

Cool! I'm jealous! I've wanted a bike for years. I've just never went ahead and bought one. I think it would end up being one of those things that I'm continuously wanting something better. Then there's the fact that I love to go fast and a bike would be trouble.

I have a friend that used to ride a lot and has 4 or 5 really nice bikes in his garage. Last time I was in his garage they covered in dust from a major home improvement project. Kind of sad to see a high-end BMW just sitting there collecting dust
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!

Enjoy your new motorcycle.

My understanding is that the Honda CRF 300 L is a dual sport.
If you intend to ride on the street,
please consider taking an MSF Basic Rider Course near you.

It will qualify you for the riding part of your motorcycle license
and save you money on your insurance.
It's fun and could save you and yours pain and suffering.
In the meantime, please be careful.

I took the MSF course to get out of a ticket
after I had been riding for more than 30 years
and thought I knew everything.

Found out I didn't know squat about riding.
After the course I rode 67,000 miles on my V-Max
and additional miles on a BMW F650GS, a TW200
and a Moto Guzzi California cruiser.

As they say at Daytona Bike Week,
Take it easy and enjoy the ride.

I’ve been getting ready for an eight day motorcycle road trip with some friends next week. We’re riding down to the Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina! I’ve heard nothing but good things and I’m hoping it lives up to the hype.

And I was not being patronizing, Spydergirl88.
In fact, I did not even notice that the post was by one of our distaff members.
It is written exactly the way I would have meant it
for any new rider regardless of gender.

But now forgive me, I especially want you to be careful.
The first two weeks have the highest injury rate.

No worries, I took that course like 5 or 6 years ago when i got my motorcycle license. It’s solid advice. I’m getting this bike so I can have fun on the farm and country roads.

This is true in my experience too. I wrecked my first bike in the second week.

Very nice blast from the past. I owned the 750 version back in the early 70’s too.
It was my first bike. That bike was very fast for it’s time!

I’m still putting around on my 2000 BMW r1150GS that I bought new 22
Years ago! I retired last year so I’m not a weekend warrior anymore.
Especially nice with current gas prices. Can’t beat the weather here either!

Here are two Kaws I had in the day . The 750 after picture was rejetted, with K&N air filters and Bill Wirges baffles . I got huge performance gains , bike was fun street racing but handling was terrible . The Z1B 900 got same carb treatment and a Kerker racing 4 into 1 header . Later put on drag handle bars and had seat cut down . Great motorcycle at that time .

ImageThis was my 1996 Big Dog Coyote after I I went through motor and tank repaint . Motor had a S&S low end , Riddell Racing polished and ported the Edelbrock heads and valve angle job with 10 1/2 compression pistons bored .10 over . I ran a Carls Speed shop CM580 lift cam with a Carl’s Typhoon aluminum billet 50mm carburetor. Exhaust was a Vance and Hines 2 into 1 header with no packing . It came with a Santee custom rubber mount frame , and I special ordered another Corbin seat to replace the original. Bike would definitely give you a 10 grin factor . MG2
