SG89, I’d love to know what you think of the “new” 300, esp if you can compare it to the 250l’s or something like an xt250? I currently have an older (2015) Honda cb500x that for me is a fantastic mix for twisty mtn roads, fire roads/double track, commuting etc BUT I am lucky enough to have probably 1000’s of miles of ohv trail, backcountry routes and dirt/gravel from the garage…something like the 300l rally could be the perfect bike for me.

Sorry can’t compare it to anything as this is my first dual sport/dirtbike. I believe the rally may have a larger fuel tank than the 300L not sure. This bike has a soft suspension tho. I like it just fine so far.

Thanks. It’s been a while since I shopped for a bike, but I believe you are correct about the rally having a slightly larger tank. It’s all tradeoffs…the windscreen and fairings make a big difference on the long stretches of pavement connecting the fun stuff, but that extra weight adds up.

As for suspension, I’m pretty short/light weighing in around 165-170 when strong, and I’m not Exactly a “braaap braaaap pinned” kind of rider so even the stock suspension on most entry level Bikes is sufficient for me

Precision sized riders interested in a dual-sport
for play in the dirt and to get around in town
who do not plan long, fast highway trips
may want to consider the Yamaha TW200.

Mine was a hoot and probably more smiles to the mile
than the other more expensive and powerful sleds I owned.

It’s mind blowing how hard these are to find in my area, new or used, and how $$$

This bike is definitely on the list though. It’s funny, I would definitely see the underside of a lot of noses riding a tw around here, it’s the land of ktm/husky for sure! I’m actually starting to see a lot of the ktm electric rigs on the backs of pickups and Subarus!

The xt250 is high on my list as well…the added benefit of rear disk brake and efi (not to mention tire availability) might outweigh the radness of the TW wheels

When I had my TW200 I was also a Moto Guzzi enthusiast
and posted this on the TW200 forum, the Moto Guzzi forum
and here on the Two Wheeled Texans forum, if you have a minute.
