The peaceful sound of an electric fan 😊
I can't sleep without one! Forgot to bring one on a camping trip a couple summers ago...I had to find an app on my phone that played the sound of a fan, it didn't surprise me I was able to find one haha.
Currently have 18 :spyder: 's in 14 different steels.

James,

The White Album was one of my favorite Beatles albums. Also the most unusual, IMO (though many may disagree and say that honor goes to Sgt. Pepper).

I'm the same. After my first bad hurricane here I went and searched out a battery powered fan . After hurricanes and tropical storms here it usually gets really warm and muggy so if the power is out it gets pretty uncomfortable. There are going to be a lot of insects around too as any that live in or near the ground are flooded out and looking for new homes. The fan really helps. 15 years ago there were very few decent battery powered fans and it took time to find one. A recent look on Amazon showed dozens of them now. Maybe I should upgrade. I'm not going to go without a fan anymore. :)

Really been obsessing over this EP lately. I've literally woke up in the middle of the night and the lyrics were my first thought.

I've liked this song since I was around 5 or so, but obviously didn't understand what the song meant. My brother had a 45 of the shortened version, and it wasn't until years later that I heard this extended version, which resumes again after the bagpipes and the combat sound effects. For some odd reason, this extended version is one of the few (if any) songs that can make me feel a bit emotional.

Joan
Hey dude that is so funny that you would put up this Joan Jett video. Because just a day or so ago I was eating dinner with some friends and we were joking around. For whatever weird reason they ask me how I wanted my funeral/passing to be organized. I then jokingly told them that I wanted Joan Jett and the Blackhearts singing "Crimson & Clover" at my memorial service :o  Yeah it got more than a few laughs.

I then told them that I truly wanted to postpone that day for at least another 30 to 40 years :D . I went on to tell them that I did not want any sad or tear jerking C & W stuff played at that event whenever it transpires. I've never liked songs with hard luck stories or depressing lyrics or even the "blues" for that matter. It's much easier to get depressed than it is to be realistically happy. So in some ways that is how I would like it to be when that time comes ;)

Eric Burdon was a much overlooked and much under-estimated talent. He was truly overshadowed when Ed Sullivan helped to launch the British music invastion of the 60s. His work with the group WAR I always thought could have gone to higher places as well. He was a brilliant talent and his vocals were not bad at all. I heard Eric Burdon interviewed on the old Art Bell show and it was most interesting.

For whatever reason, back in that time period, Eric Burdon was classified as the 'bad boy' of the British Invasion, who brought a sense of 'danger', compared to the 'boys next door' image of the others, like The Beatles. I never really got that aura from him, so whether he actually created that self-image or if it was foisted on him by the media, I can't say. I do remember watching an old interview of him, where he said while visiting NYC he went into Harlem one night by himself to experience the music scene there. Which is probably not something anyone from the other British bands would have done at the time.

Great story and a good "off topic" thread idea?!?

I have a few ...one would be this! No special meaning. ..just one of my favorite songs ever.
