Thanks fellas, music from the past can definitely stir up all sorts of emotions.

Fleetwood Mac is another one for me. If one particular song comes up on the radio I change channels.

Dan, growing up in the 70s and listening to music back then exposed me to a variety of different groups and musical styles. The radio music stations played all types of songs...hard rock, soft rock, 'bubblegum pop,' folk, funk, R&B, some country, disco, etc., all together on one station. I think they stopped that open format sometime in the 80s. But I spent much of the 80s overseas, so not sure when that changed.

In the 70s, you'd really like a hit single you heard on the radio, buy the album, and fall in love (or not) with the rest of the album. It was a great time to develop musical tastes.

Around here everything lumped together with the exception of country and old rock . There was only one station we could get that was not mainstream. KAAY in Little Rock , Arkansas played from around 11:00 to 2:00 in the morning on weekends. It was a powerful AM station we could pick up on clear nights in Central Illinois. NPR radio had slots for Blues and R&B when not playing Classical. Yes times have changed.

I’ve been going thru this thread…a lot of outstanding music here.
Shows great tastes. I was somewhat surprised that I didn’t see any
Mentions of one of my favorite modern blues performers…Robert Cray.

And one more…Jeff Healey. If you’ve seen the movie “Road House” with
Patrick Swayze he is the blind guitarist. This tune features Mark Knopfler
From “Dire Straits”.

Great song , I saw B.B. twice , once backing up the Rolling Stones and took him to the stage by Jeep at the Kickapoo Creek Rock Festival in 1970 . Another band was still playing and he asked me to walk with him down to the the creek behind stage . It was a moment that was quite surreal . Dan

That's awesome, Dan! I'm more than a little jealous.. I would have loved to have seen BB live.. I'm in my (now, late) 30's, but I''ve always thought that I should have been born in the 40s or 50s.. I've always had a deep appreciation for the greats! Always been a "classic rock" guy..my favorite music is from the 60s & 70s.. anything newer usually just doesn't do it for me haha!

I love that era of music mainly because I was able to see a lot of acts live . I mix it up a lot anymore listening to older groups and always look out for new talent . If I listen to radio locally it is the alternative station , if in the Tacoma I listen to a mix of stations old and new on SiriusXM. Glad you posted ! Dan
