First heard them on XM radio, that song has a different vibe from other songs I've heard. I like it!
Now that I've FINALLY figured out how to embed videos, I'll probably be blowing up this thread often...sorry for anybody that doesn't like punk/metal/death metal/deathcore :p

That whole album is a lot more melodic than their previous two albums but I kinda prefer it.
I get this beginning riff stuck in my head every time I hear it.

Don't know much about qawwali music, but I've always enjoyed this beat.

The band that made me fall in love with metal music as a 12-13 year old kid. Still to this day, I think Anselmo is one of the best to ever do it. So much power and passion in his vocals, but also very clear so you can understand the lyrics (which admittedly, a lot of the stuff I listen to...I have no idea what their saying haha)
This is a really good song in my opinion, pretty powerful stuff.

Did a workout yesterday evening blaring Pantera in my ears. I'm burning everywhere today, so I'd say it helps :DTkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 7:47 amThe band that made me fall in love with metal music as a 12-13 year old kid. I prefer Cowboys, Driven and Vulgar among their other albums, but Trendkill has a few classics too

Btw I think Chuck Schuldiner's a better vocalist in the sense that he had a broad array of voices on hand, and obviously wrote some of the best early death metal tracks, including all of Symbolic.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 7:47 amThe band that made me fall in love with metal music as a 12-13 year old kid. Re: What are you listening to?
I agree! I remember specifically the song Slaughtered off of Far Beyond Driven did it for me. I'll never forget that feeling like, whaaaaatttt...I didn't know music could make me feel like this :cool:ThomC wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 8:59 amDid a workout yesterday evening blaring Pantera in my ears. Coming from a house where my mom would clean on Sundays, blaring the Beatles and Beach Boys. This was totally new to me and made me feel alive, as corny as that sounds.

Re: What are you listening to?
Jim when I was a Junior in High School (1971) when I got "The Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus" for my Birthday that year from a great friend. I literally wore one copy out I played it so much. And I had a really decent turntable with a high dollar stylus and still wore it out :D I also had it on Cassette in my car and played it a lot as well. SPIRIT was a great band and Randy California was such a great guitar player that even Jimi Hendrix even spoke well of him in a "Rolling Stone" magazine article just before Hendrix died. And Ed Cassidy the Drummer of the group was Randy's step-dad if you can believe that.
Our local radio stations played "I Got A Line On You" almost daily for about 5 years. Needless to say the group was well loved here in KC.

Hi, Joe.
I first heard ‘The Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus’ when I was 8 years old, also in 1971. My older sister had bought the album, and she and her girl friends listened to it a lot. A few years later, at age 11, I bought my own copy when I started buying my own records. Which may sound weird, but because of my older siblings, my musical tastes were already well-developed at an early age.
Randy California died a hero; he saved his son from drowning in the ocean in Hawaii, but he ended up drowning himself.
This album still stands out as one of my all-time favorites.
