I’m NOT one of the 4 metal heads mentioned, but I am a fan of early heavy metal…in particular, ‘70s heavy metal, by Judas Priest, Deep Purple, and some others…

Haha!

We also have something in common, Rick…when I was in 10th grade, I had a crush on, and was trying to get with, a girl who was a senior. Also a couple different girls who were in 11th grade. Even though I used to be shy as **** around girls, especially around girls in my own grade. What can I say? Back in my teens, I liked my girls a little bit older (like the 4th line in this ‘80s song): ;)

I think the most recent album I've listened to much is the new-ish Asking Alexandria album "Like A House On Fire":

I spend my work days in a truck and listen to a lot of music. One of my favorite things to do is to listen to an entire artist's discography from start to finish. Today we're going through the middle generation albums by Slayer :)
Their first 5 albums are absolute classics. Not sure if you listen to Death Metal but early/mid Morbid Angel always reminded me of a faster/heavier Slayer.

They did a thing where there albums titles go in alphabetical order. A B C F and G are all great in there own way.

A=Fast
B=Groovy
C=Fast/groovy
F=Groovy/Fast but different than C
G=Slow/Heavy
Morbid Angel is in another league compared to Slayer. Hanneman's and Holt's playing pale compared to Azagtoth's; and they're already pretty effing good.
Though Slayer were probably more influential.
You made me want to listen to both of them again !

Agreed 100%. Azagthoth is in the same tier as Chuck Schuldiner for me. And then you have Pete Sandoval on drums to top it off.

Blessed Are The Sick is one of my favorite albums of all time.

I’ve not been a fan of too much modern death metal but if you want something new to check out I’ve been really into
Undeath- Lesions of a Different Kind
Highly recommend.

PS awesome seeing Morbid Angel mentioned. Altars of Madness is a personal favorite of mine. So much amazing metal came out of Florida in the 80's and 90's.

This was one of the first anti-drug songs, at a time when pro-drug songs were gaining in popularity.

Visiting the beach made me think of this song. I've listened to it about 30 times the past two days :p

Loved this song the day I heard it on MTV decades ago. Never was a big 311 fan, but they had a few songs I really enjoyed.

Whole Mastodon discography today. Such an incredible band. They're one of the only bands I like that started out much heavier than they are now but somehow still sound like the same band and didn't lose my interest from changing.

Funny thing is, I was chatting with a customer last week and we had the same point about Gojira (awesome French death(?)/eco metal band FYI).
I think they both managed to widen their audience while staying true to their sound.

Also a big Gojira fan. Oddly enough their Magma album got flack for being too "basic" but it's my favorite of their albums. I haven't really listened to their new one much yet.

Devin Townsend always cracked me up with that skullet. I think I saw Strapping Young Lad open for Fear Factory once, I can't remember but all I could think of was how he seemed like he really didn't belong in this band/genre despite absolutely rocking at it.
