Catching some vintage death metal, sometimes
less is more. (Ok ok it’s not that old but it’s old to me 😂)

Gonna dilute death metal vibes with some old-school style hip-hop :D

Excellent taste son and a deep repertoire to indulge in. This one looks to be from the nillies, if you like that you can always try some of their eighties grind. Their opening track on Cause of Death is quite appropriate for the times we're living in.

Yes their older stuff is quite nice in it’s brutal yet clean simplicity. I liked some of Death’s work too, but I generally dislike their anti-religious lyrics so I don’t listen to them a whole lot.

Yeah dude that old skool grind rocks. A lot of their anti-religious demeanor is for show though but I get that people are offended by it. Pretty sure many hardcore rockers are good husbands who take their wife and kids to the park for picnics listening to Barbie Girl in the car/minivan.

Came across this and was surprised by all the history. I posted one of his songs awhile back but I didn't know all this stuff.

Been awhile since I've heard this one. Brings back a great memory of being in 8th grade working on an art project in class. Our teacher was awesome, very cool and down to earth woman. I don't remember what song it was, but it was from this album and I was listening to it on my Sony Walkman. She would walk around class and sometimes snatch our headphones just to hear what we were listening to. She took mine, started headbanging a bit and told me her boyfriend would like me. She then claimed I had the best taste in music that day :cheap-sunglasses

Jim I distinctly remember the first time I saw ZZ Tops in concert way back in the mid 70s. The first time I seen them they were a back up band for the group "Foreigner" at the Allen Field House in Lawrence Kansas ( the home of the KU Jayhawks). Well needless to say they were not a back up band for very long. Because about a year later they had a mega-concert with 3 other bands at ARROWHEAD Stadium in Kansas City, MO ( the home of the KC Chiefs) and it had a huge turnout. They sure rose to the upper tier of concert bands in a pretty quick hurry it seems.

And ZZ Tops usually put on a very good show most of the time. If I remember correctly I think that "Fandango" album had the hit song "Tush" on it.

Most interesting that one of you would bring up "Long John Baldry". He was instrumental in starting the careers of Rod Stewart, Elton John and the Small Faces band back in the early part of the rock music explosion.

I got to see John Baldry at a concert in Kansas City, MO>> he was a back up performer for the group "Badfinger". I had heard that he helped launch several careers of really famous rock & blues stars over the years. I'm just surprised that someone would remember him.

As much as I like the heavy stuff, I have a soft spot for old-style country. (Modern country, at least most of it, is just pop with a country drawl) This guy's voice is incredible.
