DRKBC wrote:Yeah I had The Wall in vinyl back then, I lay back with the head phones on listened to it more times than I can remember. There was a lot of good music back then not that there isn't now but you have to dig for it a little harder that's for sure. There are only so many times I can take "you can stand under my umbrella-ella--ella" Who says you can't write a song in under five minutes ... inutes...inutes..

Steely dan rocked back then they were sort of aloof it seemed kind of in the main stream but out of it, you can still feel the whole So-Cal scene at that time when you listen to there stuff. Loved this track, Donald Fegan was at the top of his game, the whole band was.

Great footage indeed! I do think Walter Becker is great at the guitars too. :D

I've been listening to a lot of Chris Whitley lately. It's been eight years since he passed away from lung cancer at the young age of 44. What a monumental talent he was.

Fly free, brother.

I have to say I am enjoying this thread, great to get exposed to all this terrific music. I hadn't heard of Chris Whitely what a talent, he reminded me a little bit of Charlie Sexton.

Yeah I think the first time I listened to them I heard their first album, which I don't think is nearly as good as the second. It takes a few times listening through it to really be able to follow it but it's pretty great.

Flash from the past folks, this was a great song, back in the day. Dr. Hook's "Sylvia's Mother." If you haven't heard it, give it a listen & a look.

Ive been listening to a variety of things lately.
The new ASG album has been streaming for free.
Ive downloaded a few songs from The Faceless' new album. I don't think it's as good as the last two albums.
In the HipHop genre I've been listening to Krispy Kreme/Froggy Fresh and Billy Woods.
Don't mess with the Spyder because you think you're fly.

Lately, the new Amon Amarth and the new August Burns Red. Both real solid albums but not the best by either band.

I spend my days at work listening to Post Rock as it's good background noise that doesn't distract me. This Will Destroy You, God is an Astronaut, Explosions in the Sky, Caspian, Hammock, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, Message to Bears, etc.
