This soundtrack for the 1978 movie F.I.S.T. is my favorite of Bill Conti’s soundtracks. He is more famous for the Rocky theme, but I like this soundtrack much better. F.I.S.T. was a good movie, too, probably having Stallone’s best dramatic acting. However, it bombed at the box office.

IMO, the soundtrack is better than the movie itself. It’s a beautiful original soundtrack, the kind that are now a thing of the past in Hollywood movies. Nowadays, all of the Hollywood movie soundtracks are either forgettably generic, or rehashed soundtracks from old movies, or oldies songs.

Over half of these tracks were “borrowed” and used in countless old-school Hong Kong and Taiwanese kung fu movies that were made between 1978 and 1980, and hardcore fans of that genre will surely recognize many of these tracks.

The first time I ever went to San Francisco I was 4 years old (in 1967), during the so-called “Summer of Love”. I vaguely remember we saw lots of hippies when playing at Golden Gate Park, but beyond that I don’t remember much about the hippies themselves. My brother became a hippie, but a couple of years later. Hearing this old music again and seeing these images, it’s hard to believe I was there at about the same time. Because I still look a lot younger than my 57 years. :p All of these people in the photos would be at least in their 70s now, if they’re still alive. It seems like a century ago.

Holy Cow!! Buddy Miles! That's a name I haven't heard in a while. I can remember when him a Billy Cox both played with Jimi Hendrix and his "Band of Gypsys" album. But Jimi knew both of those guys for a long time as well.

I heard that Buddy died from a bad case of diabetes. Too bad

I guess I'll put up something to honor the now late Eddie Van Halen who today died after a long battle with cancer. I truly hope he rests in peace. He truly was the rock icon of the 80s and 90s. Rolling Stone magazine had him ranked as the 8th best guitarist out of the 100 Best Guitar Players. Eddie Van Halen dead at age 65.

Two of my favorites of his were "Black & Blue" and "The Best Of Both Worlds". My favorite Album of theirs was "Balance">> there wasn't a bad song on that album

I don't listen much to Van Halen, but this happy song is just so special... reminds me of my youth in the 80s and how positive everything was... thanks for the music Eddie.
