Complete soundtracks from the original Jonny Quest.

IMO, these were, and still are, the all-time best soundtracks of ANY TV show, whether animated or not. Some of these tracks were also used in other Hanna-Barbera cartoons of the 1960s, such as The Flintstones, Fantastic Four, Space Ghost, Frankenstein Jr., The Herculoids, Scooby-Doo, and others.

Love it Jim! We have Season 1. A show way ahead of its time. It wouldn't surprise me to see a Spyderco style blade on there somewhere😊
Glad you like it, Barry! :) The original Jonny Quest (I never watched the reboot, whenever that came out) is still my favorite animated series of all time. Yes, it was way ahead of its time. I’m surprised they got away with so much in an animated show from that era (gunfights, explosions, deadly animal attacks, cave-ins, avalanches, deadly falls, creepy monsters, etc.); it could never be made today. It would be considered too violent and scary for today’s kids, although I remember watching it on TV from when I was 3 or 4 years old and not being spooked at all, nor feeling any compulsion to be violent, either. I loved how each and every episode was unique. I also got the DVD set a few years ago.

As for knife sightings, I do recall Race Bannon opening a switchblade in one episode, which he used to sabotage some canoes by stabbing holes in them.

I remember that too! I never saw the reboot episodes either. I always thought that the series promoted an interest in science, as well as just being downright fun!!

You know, I recently watched part of a documentary on the original concept and development behind Jonny Quest, and believe it or not, Hanna-Barbera (the cartoon company that produced it) considered it a failure! They felt that with their inadequate budget, they never could achieve the quality they originally set out for. If that was the case, then what a failure..! Because IMO it’s still the best TV animated series ever. I loved it as a kid, and I still do today, and the same with many others.

And the soundtracks were phenomenal. I once heard that Hoyt Curtin, who composed the tracks, would often include super-fast rhythms that were very difficult and frustrating for the musicians to perform, just to be mischievous. Whatever the reason, the tracks turned out amazing, and make for great listening by themselves. They captured the various moods of the show perfectly.

This is one of those songs I remember from back in the mid-1970s, when it was constantly playing on all the pop music stations on the radio. To the point that I got really tired of it, and would switch the station if it started playing. It’s interesting how a song can be literally everywhere for a while, then become almost forgotten. I hadn’t heard nor even thought about it since then (I was 12 or 13 years old at the time), until recently. Listening to it now, IMO it sounds pretty good:

This entire album is amazing, but IMO, the album’s finale, “The Last Battle,” is epic:

Presently bingeing on Crowded House (such as: https://youtu.be/NZ3Ck43m_ZY)

I’ve had a love for Australian and New Zealand rock since serving with ANZACs for a time in Vietnam during 1968.

I’ve long considered this opening theme to be among the more beautiful movie soundtracks.
