I’m loving Springsteen’s Western Stars, but then again I’ve always loved (virtually) everything he’s done.

Some people consider The Beatles to be overrated, and they would be very, very wrong. However, most of my favorite Beatles songs tend to be among their more underrated ones, like this one:

Jim I'm the same way with the "Beatles" as I am with Elvis. The older/later stuff in their careers is truly what I deem to be the best. Especially Elvis with Suspicous Minds and Kentucky Rain>> not to mention the Beatles with the White Double Album, Abbey Road and Let It Be. Rubber Soul is truly one of their most under-appreciated albums of their entire career. But the other 3 I mentioned just dwarfed them all.

As far as Elvis goes I really didn't even like him till the late 60s/early 70s>> which is when I thought he was finally putting forth some real music.

Now The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" I always thought to be kind of a "dudd" :( But they sure made up for it with the White Album. Even Charlie Manson liked it

The White Album is actually my favorite Beatles album. Which is interesting, because IMO, none of the songs on it qualify as The Beatles’ best, but for me, it’s the album taken as a whole that makes it great.

I also never cared much for Yellow Submarine. There are two songs on it that I like: Hey Bulldog, and It’s All Too Much.

My other favorite Beatles albums are Rubber Soul and Help. I basically like them all (except for Yellow Submarine), and while I like Abbey Road and Let It Be, most of the songs on those albums have gotten so much airplay over the years. My fave song on Abbey Road is Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, partly because I just like it :) and partly becauseI haven’t heard it constantly over the years.

The Beatles were probably the first band I ever heard. Supposedly, when The Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show the first time (Feb. ‘64), my brother wanted to see it, so “the entire family was sat before the telly” (as an Englishman might put it :D). But I was only 9 months old at the time, so I wouldn’t have remembered anyway. That’s partly what inspired my brother to become a musician, although later his musical tastes outgrew The Beatles, and his favorite musician since the early ‘70s or so has been Jeff Beck.

I’ve never been a fan of Elvis, for whatever reasons. I don’t know why. Even though I like some of Roy Orbison’s songs, and his voice sounded similar to Elvis’s.

Although this song’s lyrics are simple, they hold deep meaning:

That's a very interesting rundown you gave us there Jim with the Beatles and so forth. I was lucky enough to have watched the Beatles debut on the Ed Sullivan Show back in the early 60s. There was an onslaught of great British bands coming to the USA as well as a couple of American success stories like the Dave Clark Five and the "Byrds". But the so-called "British Invasion" was for real. Ironically the Rolling Stones endured over the years better than any of them. I just can't hardly believe that the Stones are about to do another USA tour. When are these guys going to come out on stage using "walkers" :o Poor old Mick has probably had more face lifts than Liz Taylor at this point

There are literally dozens of music acts that owe their success to Ed Sullivan. He literally catapulted the Mamas & Papas, Creedence Clearwater Revival and several of the Motown artists. Ed Sullivan probably started more big time careers than the Twilight Zone did. Look at all the super successful actors that got their start in the Twilight Zone of all places>> and to think that Ed Sullivan did even better than that.
