Dug out an old 'non-Ozzy' Black Sabbath album called 'Headless Cross' that I used to love.....It has not aged well.

Call me a purist but when it comes to Sabbath I can't listen if it's not Ozzy behind the mic. I love Dio but I don't even like those albums.

Agreed- It would not (to use an analogy) trouble Sherlock Holmes for more than 2 minutes to work what the missing element in this period of Sabbath's discography.

I loved it when I was 16 though....Then again, I loved Carling lager when I was 16 too and now I wouldn't even use it to wash my feet. :D

Ozzy was the original and best. Dio was good but no Ozzy. I also enjoy Ian Gillan's vocals, but the band did not sound like Black Sabbath and the songs have not held up over time.

Godsmack is an interesting band to me, because I really don't like them BUT I've seen them live and I really enjoyed their show and they put in an amazing live performance. I can't sit and listen to their records, but I'd see them live again for sure. Isn't that odd?

They lost me at the cut-n-paste guitar intro... the rest is interesting, but it's hard to re-imagine a track like that which is so iconic for so many reasons (including the intricate production). I'd maybe go for a solo acoustic guitar version, but it would have to have a fantastic vocal to pull it off.

Props to anyone with the guts to try!
