Immigrate to the US?

#1

Post by Stefan Roth »

I'm thinking to do so after university. Germany is getting more left-wing every year. Self-defense is almost impossible because we're not even allowed to carry a one hand opening knife without a "legal reason". Buying firearms is getting more difficult. No CCW for "normal" people. Only .22's until 25. No OTFs. No Balisongs. No Automatics longer than 3.2 inches. Germany's politicians really start to suck.

Whats the best place to go concerning knife and gun laws?

How-to?

What is important while immigrating?

How do I become a US citizen?

Best regards,

Stefan

Sounds like NY...for the most part...and to think I was considering immigrating to Germany..... New Hampshire if you like it cold....9 months of pure white and then three months of very bad skiing...Florida if you like it hot....decent laws and rights...cept for the fact that most people there are either newlywed or nearly dead......Doc :D

Honestly, I was about to say the same thing about Illinois...We're the holdout on just about everything.

Texas. NY is becoming ridiculous. Very left wing and dwindling jobs. Texas is growing jobs and is very friendly towards personal property and personal protection.

I hope you are not planning your life goals based on knives and guns laws, aren't you?

Not California unfortunately :( No automatic knives for civilians. Need CCW to carry handguns, no bali's over 1.9 inches.
There is much to be learned from one who never speaks

Well, no. But if I can choose where to live, why not. Probably I am going to manufacture firearms. That is at least what I am planning to do.

The mountain states (CO, WY, MT) are all pretty weapon friendly!

IMHO knives and guns laws like other laws can reveal level of freedom. For a example, in "old, good Soviet Union" everything was prohibited for known reasons.

Back to the original question of the OP, I can't really tell you about a individual immigrating, the USCIS site that Pinetreebbs posted would be a start. I can tell you that if you had a person here you wanted to marry there is lots of paper work involved. Lots of proof you have to show of an ongoing relationship and that there is financial support for you or you have it available. And then there are the fees for filing and interviews and on and on. I know this because 5 years ago I imported my wife and two of her children from England. Our 5 year wedding anniversary is July 15. :)

I don't think you'll find the United States' politicians much better, it just depends on what is important to you.

Advantages
Germany: The Autobahn/driving experience, drinking in public, unpasteurized cheese not illegal.
The US: More liberal knife laws (depending on state), don't need a prescription to buy aspirin, don't pay for toilets.
