help me find one to hold me over

#1

Post by Popsickle »

Im looking for what one would constitute as a hard use folder. something with very tough steel, and a thick blade(example would be the hest folder). fixed blades are not my thing, but i would like something that will hold me over until the TUFF gets here :) . I love spyderco, and i find myself afraid to use some of my knives for tasks other than just plain slicing something. manix 2 is already in my edc rotation and i love it....but im looking for more. thank you in advance guys!

The GB is a hard use folder that could even pass for a dress knife.

I don't know that this will do but I got this to tide me over until the TUFF.

ZT's are great for your intended purposes. Relatively inexpensive for what you get as well. I have two 350's (one Elmax composite blade and one satin S30V) and they both rock. :)
I prefer to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.

I like my hest folder, it's kind of small overall, though. 3" blade, a little bigger and a lot thicker than a delica. A coated D2 steel blade is pretty tough. It came with a rough 40 degree grind on it and that's what a lot of ESEE blades seem to come with, I reprofiled it to 30 degrees, but I still can't get it to slice very well because the blade is so wide behind the edge.

I have always wanted a ZT03xx, so I would definitely go for one of those, but depending on budget, Hinderer XM-18 is where it's at.

I personally would rather have a Manix2 or Gayle Bradley over a ZT.

If you don't mind CF the Gayle Bradley is a TOUGH knife to beat. Huge beefy liners and hollow ground M4? It's in a league of it's own for any price let alone like $125-135 street price.

benchmade sibbert mini pocket rocket-755 mpr

blade is m390 and is thicker than any i have-
ti frame lock
machined ti clip(dude if spyderco only used these)

this sucker is as heavy duty as any piece ive have or have had including a xm18

if i had a buddy or his kid going to war i would give them this over anything in my collection

Or if you can find one the ZT0550 or 0551. MPR is nice though.
