Deac,
Do you recall the beginning of SForums?

Originally, all the spydiefolks would gather and share and Sal used to answer questions on the Spyderco section of BladeForums.

And OUILA this site !!

"When I was kid I had to walk up hill both ways to buy a new Spydie. Sharpened em on a rock. Didn't need spectacles..."

No, John, I'm a relative latecomer to both knife collecting and this forum. I only found this place for the first time in late 2003. VW, Samo, Java, Clay, and a number of others have been here from the git-go in May of 2000.

No John. The Fourm started in May 2000. A foul up during a software or database upgrade in 2004 resulted in the start dates of everyone registered at that point getting reset to Sept 2004. That's why you, me, and Patrick all have that date. If you want to see some of the really old stuff, this is an easy way to do it. Heck, you've been here since July 2000, here's your first post.

The Joyful Girl Simona?

I thought that the "joyful girl" Simona had been here for quite a long time. There was another guy who went by the name ZEUS who was also here long before I was. I thought he was also one of the originals.

We had a lot of regulars who were here almost every day during the 2004-05 time slot>> some of them still lurk occasionally but you don't see them very often.

Also wasn't Bladeforums on line a long time before this forum was?

Mucho gracias deacon!!

G'day John,

Nice to see you here again. How have you been? Chinook was another of the early members and my mate Ferret (who I must catch up with). Can anyone remember the name of the bloke who moderated for a while and then had to sell all his Spydies? Blades was another early member who I still PM occasionally.

I do miss those early days, there was more of a 'village' atmosphere on the forum. Who'd have thought it would grow this big.

cheers,
clay

I don't remember the beginning, but I was here closely thereafter, I believe around late 2000, was ROM831 back then....

Deacon, did you figure out a way to search the archive?

Oops, make that mid 2002.

Sorry, Paul, but Java's just a babe in the woods compared to the aforementioned grandSpyderholics. I arrived in early 2001 after lurking about for a good 6 months. Kraziekurtis, Alan E Treat, and JSmith were all regulars when I got here. Kahz, Dynaryder, Zrexxer, and Lokelani still made the the occasional appearance as well back then.

Good to see Clay is still keepin watch on Spyderco's southern seas.

I've got the final frontier......or at least I did have until Obama decided to axe the Constellation Program. PA1 - the launch abort system - is still a go however:

Orion Launch Abort System Test CG Simulation

The real deal is scheduled around April of this year and I'm hearing AA2 might be funded as well.....but I digress.

:D

Your memory is excellent Butch. :D Here's your first post, on Nov 19, 2000.

FWIW, my "trick" is what computer folks call "brute force". I just to use the Advanced Search feature and find al threads containing posts by the user, sorted in ascending order so the oldest is first. Might blow up if you tried it for those of us here who've show we have WAY too much time on our hands. :o ;) :D
