What does everyone do for a living?

#1

Post by m.and »

This is one of my favorite off-topic threads on a photography forum that I frequent and thought I would introduce it here.

So, what does everyone do for a living. Or, if you were recently laid off, what did you do.

I am a photographer and freelance photographer's assistant. I can't wait to find out what everyone else does.

Regards,
Matthew

Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

I travel to Alaska every year and club baby harp seals to death for their pelts.

LOL, just kidding!
I'm actually a corrections counselor and I run cognitive treatment groups for inmates.

For sixteen years, I was a corrections officer and a member of a tactical unit for a government agency. I've been a sniper, firearms instructor, tactical trainer, gang/threat groups instructor, defensive tactics instructor, and a pile of other stuff.

These days, I just want to be left alone and in peace, and want to retire from my job. I still train in tactics and such, and participate in training others.

This one surfaces every so often on this forum, and I did not reply to the last one or two times this one came around. I think that this is a pretty decent topic to be resurrected every now and again, though, especially so some of the newer members can share information and get a bit of background on some of the people who have been around for awhile.

In any case, rather than post my bio again on various forums, these days I tell people to go to my website or to read the "condensed version" here:

I'm a network / server dude. I work on Cisco equipment and servers for a living. I am one of 4 guys at a hospital that handles all the servers, routers, switches, etc. VMware ESX servers etc. EMC Storage. We have 6 locations, about 1400 workstations, and about 140 servers. We have about 40 different pieces of Cisco equipment from ASA's to VPN Concentrators, to routers, switches, oh my...

I love my job by the way.

For two more weeks I'm a vac truck driver for an environmental company. After those two weeks are up I'm going to school to take machining and hopefully next year I will be starting an apprenticeship.

Electronics Technician working as a Quality Analyst for a major OEM in telecomm after a year in production and 2 as a Repair Technician in the warranty dept.

Have been the IT dept for the family courier company for the last 5 years. 4 workstations, 1 server for both file and printer (3 printers), laptop and on-site backup. Go in once a month for maintenance and full backup unless something goes wrong before.

Also do IT on the side as customers call me. There have been stretches where I work for 6-7 weeks of 7 days a week.
