Thoughts and Prayers Needed
I haven’t been posting much here in recent times mainly because I’ve taken on additional interests, and have been viewing other forums. I still visit here just about every day just to lurk.
For the past few months I have had some physical problems in both of my arms. It’s in the area that one may think of “Tennis Elbow”, but I really can’t say what it is. All I know is that I went to the range for some pistol practice, and woke up with sore arms the next morning. I had read Massad Ayoob’s article on accurate handgun shooting, and was experimenting with that as well as other different techniques, so I don’t know if I “over did” something or just slept on them wrong. I didn’t shoot that much (not any more than I shoot every other time I go, which is about once weekly, but sometimes more), so I don’t think it was too much shooting.
Unfortunately, because of this condition, I haven’t been tying any lanyards for several months. I’m due for my yearly physical this Wednesday the 24th, so I’ll ask my physician about it then.
Any prayers would be greatly appreciated.

First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

ghostrider, my prayers and thoughts are with you. Hope it turns out to not be anything serious.
It's better to have knife and not need it than to need a knife and not have it.

Ghostrider, my tennis elbow problems began after playing paintball one day. Kind of strange, since I had been playing every other Sunday (minimum) for about four years before that. Nothing bad happened that day, nothing I did should have caused any injury. And it was my left elbow, which is my off hand. It came on suddenly for me, and the same sort of thing may have happened to you.
None of the doctors I consulted could tell me why tendons would suddenly begin tearing under an amount of strain they had taken for years. They just told me to stop doing a bunch of things that I considered routine. Cortisone shots may help, at least temporarily. From what I have been told, these things take years to heal naturally, and may not heal at all without treatment. I would suggest you see a bone and joint specialist rather than waiting for your regular checkup.

I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

hi ghostrider,
I wish you well for your elbow condition--I've been there! Before I started school two years ago I had been lifting weights as my main form of exercise for the previous several years. I developed a mildly painful condition in my left elbow that took a while to heal. In my case I think I was predisposed to develop that injury in that particular place as a result of having played violin all through my growing up years, which keeps the left elbow locked in a backward-twisted, rather unnatural position; and maybe also from playing guitar, though the elbow is not twisted back so much in that case. Fortunately, I was seeing a good orthopedic doc who helped me get through that.
Good luck in finding out what's up with your elbow and wishing you on the road to a speedy and full recovery.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. One of the things that makes this forum so great is that it's like a big family. The encouraging words that other members provide is a testament to the type of people who are members here.

hey David i had the same problem in my left elbow. it got to the point where i couldn't bend my arm at all. i went to my regular doc and she gave me a cortisone shot but it didnt do anything. i went to an orthopedic and he said he was going to give me a shot too. i relayed that the last one didnt work and he replied i am a specialist...yadda yadda yadda...anyways after the first shot i could pick up a 10lb weight within 10 seconds with only minor discomfort (i couldnt even lift my own arm up when i walked in) he poked my elbow one more time and i had no pain at all lifting the weight. it was the jump start i needed to get my arm healing. just a heads up the next day the pain might be worse because their usually is an anesthetic with the cortisone. i have sent two firemen to this guy and they healed up very quickly as well. also until you get the shot you can get one of those armbands, they help out a bit. http://www.walgreens.com/store/product. ... rod2602650
bottom line is if you do go get the shot get a referral and let the orthopedic do it.
