I've got one of the Ontario Tak-1's. I really like it, and personally, I like it's sheath more than the RAT 3's sheath. But I've heard good things about the RAT 3 knife itself!

Hmm, other non Spyder purchases....

Well, how about:

Strider SMF T
Strider GG SMF T
Strider GB
Emerson Super SOCFK B
Benchmade HK
TOPS Tom Brown Tracker 2

Non-Spyderco knife is a painful topic for me. I have no success in this area.
This thread
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showt ... p?t=462276
made me think that I became a spyderholic.
So I decided to buy non-Spyderco.
I looked around, read BF and decided to get new Kershaw Mini-Cyclone.
What can be better? This knife has everything the knifenut can dream about: Ti, ZDP, frame lock, on/off AO and leaf shape blade is my favorite. So I bought it in May, handle is too small for this knife to be comfortable in my hand, even small Kopa much more comfortable. My hand may be large, but not too large. Finger choil would make this knife much better. I put it back in the box. May be I will try Mcusta next.......
"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf"

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

I feel your pain. The knife I bought before the SAK was a Kershaw Scallion. It has a blue handle and black blade. In a word, I hate it! The spring assist is weak. The knife feels like a toy. The blade isn't that sharp and the fit and finish just isn't what I expected. 34 bucks down the drain pretty much.

While waiting on the Superhawk and the Lum Chinese it has been an almost exclusively NON-Spyderco summer for me...

Case Scout Jr. and Case Bartneder knife in 6.5 India Bone Stag

Schatt & Morgan Wildcat Driller in ATS-34 and S&M Harness Jack in 1095.

Camilus Cub Scout Utility Knife and SAK Soldier model in Silver Alox.

Schrade 12OT Single Blade Peanut.

But I also picked up a Spyderco DKPK, and the next purchase should be a CF Caly in ZDP.

Benchmade Mini Rukus, the only BM (other than the balis and maybe the HK 14205) that I care for.

My lastest buy wasn't a knife, and it wasn't really a buy. I modified my Night Ops Gladius and brought the brightness up from 80-90 lumens to 180-190+ lumens!!! Woohoo!!!
Also "Kaizen1" on BF, "ignoramus" on CPF & EDCF. "kaizenrei" on KF, "Kaizen" on USN.

The Ontario line of knives is excellent. I have a TAK in 1095 Carbon Steel that I like a lot, it's my field fixed blade.

I like the look of the RAT-3's.

Apart from Spyderco (or Byrd), only Victorinox seems to get my knife-money.

This is a military knife, with a lock on the blade + a lock on the screwdriver. :)

An Old School BM Mini TSEK.

A Kershaw Mini Cyclone (regular one) turned full manual with open back and filework. That is one GREAT knife I tell you!

That's it...

I don't buy many non-Spyderco knives, but I love John Greco's designs and his tactical line contains some really tough knives - like this Fox Fighter!
