Brown and black ink in a 5x8 1/4" Moleskine notebook. The first 6 pages of my new sketchbook. Actually been sketching on real paper the last couple weeks.

Very nice dedguy! The last person on each half look very world of warcraft-ish.

Is there a storyline? A comic book? I'd like to see what all of these various characters are all about.

Yeah it's a story and world I've been slowly developing over time. I have some stories in my head I want to tell but haven't really put any of them down on paper yet. I don't want to get into the main story and characters right off the bat so I've been toying with the idea of doing some short comic book stories of some of the side characters.

One would be about "Eight" pictured above with the funny helmet. His twin brother "Nine" is one of the main characters in the larger story I want to tell.

Here's some finished stuff and sketches for characters in the world. Some of the stuff is many years old and kinda sucks, which is why I keep waiting on doing anything. I don't think I'm good enough yet.

First sketch I ever did of the main "hero" in the TIM: the Exsanguinator world. At that point I was just calling him "hero".

Some other early (bad) drawings of TIM:

Some TIM drawin's I actually still like.

Fairly early TIM drawing I still actually like a lot. It has issues but I really like the idea of someone being obscured by very bright light as opposed to darkness.

TIM battle damaged, did a more recent version of this that really shows how much my anatomy has improved.

TIM hanging out on a rooftop in human form, still haven't finished this one.

Nine climbing up a wall, the perspective is a little wonky, forgive me.

Very first drawing of Nine [Acully Rue] who has since changed ALOT.

First ever drawing of the character "Kris Leamas" and "Skip" and one of "Susan Rue". They have all changed signifigantly except for Susan who is actually very similar to that first drawing.

Modern versions of Skip, Kris, and Susan. If you compare it to the sketches above from 2003 you should see how much they have changed and how much my style and skill has changed.

Finally nailed down what Skip will look like

With that outlook, then you'll never know for sure. I think your art is fantastic and your sketches better than some completeld comic books I've read. You never know what your capable of til you try. Both failure and success can only make you (and your art/stories) stronger.

Bro', if we hold ourselves to our own standards, we'll never be "good enough".

To me, my artwork is *okay*, nothing to rave about. And yet, other people do rave about it sometimes. I say that not to blow my own horn, but to illustrate the point that the artist himself seldom is ever satisfied.

But we aren't the ones that need to be satisfied with our own work; if that was so, we'd never be driven to improve ourselves. We'd just rest on our current skill level. But in our effort to become "good enough", we improve ourselves.

In the meantime, others will continue to drool over your work. :D

I see real talent in your work. Even in your rough sketches. I've never been taught to sketch (or draw, for that matter), so my sketches really do suck. With yours, I can see that you truly created them using your very own creativity, and that's very valuable. Keep it up, you're certainly on the right track. And yes...you're "good enough" right this very moment.

Well to be honest I'm mostly concerned with my writing skills at the moment. I think my drafting skills are about where I need them to be at least to get started. I can draw anything with reference and most things without.

Heya Ded!! Excellent stuff as always! I agree with Jim about never being satisfied with our own work. I have started drawing again and it's a bit painful!

If you're ever ready to go all out on a comic, I will help any way I can. I also have a very good friend who is an incredible writer. He has written about an issue and a half of his own book. I think your two styles might mesh together well...
