Anyone see that Netherlands v Portugal game? What a MESS! I am very disappointed in both squads, neither played with any class or honor.

BTW, I was pulling for your countrymen Clay, hoping they'd be one of the Cinderella teams.

I actually thought the Netherlands - Portugal game was entertaining. It had many great scoring chances, with balls going wide or high (or off the bar! :( ). There were great passes and saves, as well as some rough play and some very silly pushing matches. (As an ice-hockey player and fan, it wasn't that bad really. I've done worse... I mean, I've seen worse! :o ). Sixteen yellow cards and four red cards - all in a 90 minute match!

Too bad the Netherlands lost, I like the Oranje. Portugal will be in tough with a couple of players not available because of the red cards. Will make for an interesting match vs. England.

And too bad that Autralia didnt get the overtime they deserved. Sorry to see them go.
I would have liked to see a Holland-England match. Oh well. GL to England, hope the ref is not as fast with the cards then.

And Lucas Neill had such a great series up till then. I really feel for him and the rest of the lads. At least we stuck it to the Italians. I wonder if the US coach still thinks we didn't deserve to be there :p .

The USA coach is as good as gone. He blew it when it mattered. He hasn't resigned, but hinted at it. Even if he doesn't step down, I'll bet he gets booted.

So why do Italians suck their thumbs, when they score?

My thoughts exactly Alex! I like France, and especially Henry, but they've been playing poorly. They really showed up against Spain. Very awesome! Congrats to France, I hope you and your countrymen are enjoying the victory! I'm hoping they take it all the way, it will be tough, but they are my adopted #1 team.

I wondered that too when I saw it. I heard that Totti and his wife recently had a baby and the thumb sucking gesture was for his infant son, but who really knows.

I'm also getting behind France now that I've overcome my disappointment. Zidane has to be one of the greatest players of the modern era. Wonderful to see him score against Spain.

Zidane is amazing, he's solid for France.

I'm leaning towards England now that the next round is set. We'll see who I pick next! :o

Au revoir Bazil. How good is Zidane, he made the Brazilians look very ordinary.

France did well. Otherwise it was a disappointing day unless you live in Portugal.

Beating Brazil is good enough, everything else is gravy :p

Great game to watch, I enjoyed every bit of it. Just a little left to go and they'll have their second gold star!
