Very nice looking knife. I think that stabilization will allow some very unusual materials to be used for scales, and some of them will be strikingly beautiful. Would love to get a better look at that handle.

The knife has a beautiful design to it, but I never knew you could do handles with MUSHROOMS  AWESOME looking knife! Thanks for sharing!

Stabilized material is kind of counter-intuitive. The "best" candidate materials are porous, since the whole idea of the process is to suck out the air and replace it with a resin very similar to that used in making G-10. What you are doing, in essence is creating an epoxy/fiber laminate, but using cellulose fiber in its natural state (wood), instead of glass fiber. But for the process to work its best, full penetration of the resin into the wood is essential. So, hard, dense woods, like lignum vitae and desert ironwood, are poor candidates, while lighter woods are good ones. Mushroom is at the extreme, once dried they are very light and still quite porous.

Nice workmanship, not too fond of Hawkbills myself. I really like the Hebe model though.
