Yield to whitetail deer on the interstate; they certainly have the right of way.

...having been a survivor of 12 bike accidents ( one was my fault), three car accidents, a high fall, and a period of time interspersed with people shooting at me, I tend to be a bit cynical, and expose my warped sense of humour...

My foot is planted firmly in my mouth, socks, laces, mirror polished leather and all....

What I should have said, was, " OH a deer, a female deer ".... :D

Yes...

Good evening, all.

Yes, regrettably, t'was my car. Accident occurred at 6:38 a.m. EDT this morning immediately prior to exit 51 on I-79 southbound.

Yes, David, you have an OCC fan here as well. :D

I am quite sore and my spinal ailments are a bit more irritated than usual, but we'll know more in the morning if I can get out of bed under my own power.

My apologies if my lucidity is less than usual tonight. I am unfortunately buzzing on Xanax right now to keep the anxiety under control. Will return to the forums hopefully more lucid tomorrow.

BTW, loved the "deer" refs Zackerty; I really needed the laugh tonight. Thanks!

Good thing it wasn't a cow. Glad your "aok". What did the deer look like and will insurance cover that kind of thing?

Everyone here seems to have those air screamers that's s'posed to alert the venison of impending doom. Don't work. They always run the wrong way. Luckily ours are blacktail. Much smaller.

DR, no I have to pray for the poor deer's soul! I hope you took it with you to feed your family with it!

Hope you're feeling better today Doc. Few years back I was starting to believe the local deer population where I lived at that time considered me their Dr. Kevorkian. One actually ran into the SIDE of my car.

Wow, good you came out of that in one piece.
Take care and have a speedy recovery. :)

Friends,

I am none the worse for wear the morning after, thankfully.

The whitetail deer are so thick in this state that driving any distance to work is like walking through a cow pasture blindfolded: you are going to hit one sooner or later... :p

My dear Yojimbo, I did not recover the carcass for use as food; not that I am averse to it, simply that what was left hardly qualified as food as I understand the definition of the word...

We have also had incidents in-state of deer committing seppuku against the sides of cars; they need their population thinned out tremendously. Coyotes have moved in, but they tend to spend more time thinning the dog and cat population that that of the deer...

Today I find out if my car is totalled (likely for numerous reasons) and attempt to find alternative transport to work for tomorrow...

All the best, my friends,

Hannibal

Windshield is OK, so you must be...
Hope the Whiplash wasn't too hard...

Rest well and relax...

I bet there is about $3000 of damage. I'm guessing they will not total it.

Heck.......you should drive it like that and when people ask what happened to your car just say "I got mad and kicked the front of my car one night after work". :D

Maybe...

FoM:

Your estimate is probably fairly accurate, but for a discontinued vehicle whose manufacturer has gone bankrupt several years back, with parts very hard to find, plus the cost of keeping me in a rental for the better part of a month to get the parts imported and installed, and considering we only owe $3200 on the car to begin with...

You see why I might think they will total it... :D
