Earth Quake!

#1

Post by UK KEN »

Hello All

I have just seen the results of the devastating earth quake today in Asia. I know that we have a number of forumites living around the area. I hope that you are all OK and have not been affected by this tragedy.

My prayers go out to you all.

Thanks for letting us know Sam. It is a relief to know that fellow Spydieknuts are OK when disasters like this happen.

Glad to hear that you and yours are unharmed by this event Sam, hope and pray all other forumites in that part of the world and their loved ones fared as well.

I'm incredibly relieved to hear from Samo and some of the other Asian Knife Nuts at BFC. I keep praying that the toll will not climb much higher and I will keep those who have lost friends and families in my thoughts and prayers as I go about my safe and insulated day. The Nicobar Islands are extremely remote and officials feel that another 3,000 people have perished there. Sri Lanka has asked the US directly for help. Australia is using their CAF transports to fly supplies in as fast as possible. There are a reported 600 Swedish citizens missing. The King of Thailand lost a grandson to this disaster.

I Just sent a cash contribution to the American Red Cross earmarked for International Relief. It won't help the folks in SEA but I'll be going down to our local Carter Blood Center to donate my rare red stuff.

I would urge any of you who can to donate whatever you are able to help.

The American Red Cross has a secure link for Credit Card contributions. Link up here American Red Cross You can also link to stories there that our media is not covering.

I couldn't link to the International Red Cross/Red Crescent to find out where to donate but their main page is International Red Cross/Red Crescent

My company has matching contributions for charitable organizations and I intend to hit them up when the plant fires up again after the New Year. If your church or any other social organization seeks help here don't turn a deaf ear. Stay involved and do what you can. It all comes back in time.

I've rambled enough here. Count your blessings and please do what y'all can to help.

The latest report I watched on Fox News at 6:00 am this morning EST said the death toll is now at 44,000 overall, this number will go up.

My heart goes out to all who have been hurt by this.

I have lived through Huricanes in Florida, and massive snow storms, but nothing can compare to this.

Total destruction. :(

nah, I don't think so.. First, there was a series of terrestrial quakes at Acheh, Sumatra's Northernmost province. Its land's end is purtty close to one of our island State, Penang and further up North, Thailand's Phuket.. Then, there was this 9.0 biggie deep in the Andaman Sea which sent waves all the way up to Somalia, destroying literally anything along its path. Today, as I am speaking, dead bodies are still being washed ashore from this horrific disaster. None of them folks in Malaysia have experienced tidal waves as high as coconut trees.. Our death toll is at 60 and counting.. :(

Hi Samo, glad you and yours weren't that affected. May God help those poor people :( Such events make me think that the Apocalypse is closer than I thought :o
