I've got the brushless Bosch 12V impact driver and the drill driver as well. I find them both to be handy and capable of meeting most of my needs. I gave my 18V Makitas to my kids and don't regret the change at all. My hand tools are gradually moving to Knipex and Wiha. I'm about 75% there. I have an older Craftsman rolling cart in my garage but I use Carhartt tool rolls quite a bit for grab-and-go.

No new tools. But today I got out the tube of Flitz and polished up a Helios vernier caliper that used to belong to my grandfather. It's probably from the 1940's or 1950's. Back when I was a kid, "Helios" was the generic term for verniers, just like Kleenex is the generic term for "facial tissue." I used these in the 70's when I was playing in the garage making stuff.

Over the past half century, the metal had become tarnished and it was hard to read the delineations. The "brake" wasn't right, so I took it apart and fixed it. And there was a missing screw, so small that I needed a loupe just to work on it. But I made a new one and all is good.

As much as I like the old Helios, it's unlikely I'll ever use them for real work, as I prefer dial calipers--not digital, not vernier. A nice feature is the decimal equivalent chart on the back. There's also another chart on the back that I suspect has something to do with threading. Anyone know what it means?

ooo... that's sweet. digital is plenty good for most things going to hundredths. however, I also have precision set of micrometers and other tools for the real important stuff going to thousandths and hundred thousandths (the last 2 being very, very rare for me)

I had to buy a die grinder a couple of months ago. Contractor put new ceramic tile in a shower stall and bathroom for us and covered over all the mounting holes for all the hardware, made the hole for the shower valve too small for the screws to secure the faceplate and other miscellaneous screwups, all of which I got to fix.

Love the Milwaukee 12V Fuel series tools. Also a fan of their Packout toolbox line. Since I got tired of replacing tools that wander off and started locking them up so the other guys can't use them, the Packout has been growing.



Pretty handy if you know what you have in each box. Grab the boxes you need, stack them up and they lock together, and the bottom box has wheels and a dolly handle for transport.

I figured I'd try for a photo I can post in a handful of different threads... Husqvarna 120 and Estwing 14.75" axe. The 120 is one of the worst reviewed chainsaws out there but I love it. I rarely even get the bigger ones out anymore.

Yes. An ATI Nomad. Folds all the way in half, too. I do have bear decide to share this area with me occasionally. The shotgun is under $100 and nice to keep around while working in the woods. Oh... and it hurts no matter which end of it you're on.

The last time I used a big impact wrench, I had to run 100' of cord and there was always the risk that some jerk would steal the outlet. Nowadays you get space age convenience and probably better performance. I'm jealous.
