I watched a guy in Pensacola nonchalantly cleaning lion fish bare-handed. I thought maybe he ought to be more careful, but I guess he knew what he was doing. Dang things are exotic invasives and need to be over harvested with prejudice.
Absolutely, Florida has enough fish that are painful! ;) Dan

Normally, I am tolerant of snakes.
They keep down the rodent, mole and gopher population.
Have not seen rattlesnakes or water moccasins
but we do have Copperheads.
They do not get a pass.

This one the other night was on the front porch
The hounds went on full alarm.
I blinded it with a bright flashlight and after a bit
nailed it in the head with a hiking stick.

Typically they are small, 10 to 15 inches.
This is the largest one to date, a hefty 20 inches.

It's a shame no one was documenting my removal of several frogs and many, many tadpoles from our soon-to-be demolished swimming pool. It's amazing how quickly nature takes back in Florida. They made a home out of the few inches of rain water that had collected at the bottom. I'll try to rescue more tadpoles in the few days left, but I'll never be able to get them all.

Yesterday I spied a blonde Squirrel playing with siblings in back but was unable to get a good picture . I’m hoping to see it closer to my Squirrel feeder. Dan

That’s great! I haven’t done that with frogs, but I do enjoy hooting with the barred owls and whistling with the mocking birds. So much life around us all the time, so much joy and entertainment available. Just slow down and pay attention outside!
