The Dukes of Hazzard (1979 - 1985)
For me, the real reason to watch this show was Catherine Bach as Daisy Duke!

Chips was a unique show really, showed a COP show could be done with zero gun play.
Went on with a plot, acting and good story lines.

Bert D'Angelo/Superstar (1976)
I'm willing to bet that nobody else here remembers this show. It was a spinoff from The Streets of San Francisco, but it only lasted one season. It actually lasted longer than I thought; I had the impression that it only lasted an episode or two.

Thundarr the Barbarian (1980 - 1981)
This was a great sword-and-sorcery cartoon.
IMO, the creators should have set the end of civilization much farther into the future. When writers set a cataclysmic/apocalyptic end of the world too soon (they set the end of civilization as we know it in 1994), the storyline becomes obsolete too quickly when that year comes and goes in real life. Some sci-fi movies, like Terminator, made the same mistake. And if I recall correctly, in the plot of Terminator 2, the seeds of the beginning of the end of civilization were set in motion in the year 1994. Coincidence?

I never watched Dallas myself, but I still remember hearing my high school art teacher asking the class, "Who do you guys think shot J.R.?" when "everybody" was asking the question. She then revealed that she was REALLY into the show.

The New Adventures of Zorro (1981 series)
This was one of, if not THE last Saturday morning cartoon series I watched. By then, I had started community college (which I ended up never completing). Yeah, it may have been weird to still be watching Saturday morning cartoons at that age, but I remember some of my friends talking and joking about the Smurfs and the Lone Ranger cartoon (which the Zorro cartoon was paired with). So obviously, I wasn't the only one still watching some cartoons at that age. If that was my worst secret, I'm not doing so badly.

Re: Nearly-Forgotten TV Shows, Themes, and Ads
This thread is getting kinda lengthy. Has anybody mentioned Dragnet, the Untouchables, I Love Lucy or the Jackie Gleason Show?
Re: Nearly-Forgotten TV Shows, Themes, and Ads
Yeah, it really was THE SHOW.

Chico and the Man (1974 - 1978)
This was a pretty decent show, until Freddie Prinz (who played "Chico") committed suicide in January 1977. After that, the show understandably lost all of its soul.
I always liked Jose Feliciano's theme song. The lyrics became especially poignant after Prinz's death.
