Handle profile that is similar to the Delica, but with a obviously longer blade (and clearly much more fancy). Flips great, as long as your fingers aren't on the lockbar. It's my only ZT, and I love it.
^ That's a cool looking knife! Normally something like that wouldn't be my style but I like that one
SG - I got my 0609 in the same manner - Black Friday deal that I couldn't pass up. I haven't seen deals like that around Black Friday for a while now.Sharp Guy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 2:34 pmCapt'n Boatsalot wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 9:48 amNice 0609! I got my 0609 on a Black Friday special a couple years ago. Price was too good to pass up. I had to dig pretty hard for the pic I took after I got it but I've been carrying it quite a bit lately. I'm not sure but I think Smitty sold it at a pretty good discount because the anodizing isn't very even. I like how it turned out. So it's a win for me
It was actually the only time I've seen ZT models that low. I bought my 0470 the same weekend for like $155. They're $280 now. I don't remember for sure but I think the 0609 was around $180. They're selling for $280 today too. Makes me smile hahaCapt'n Boatsalot wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 4:57 pmSG - I got my 0609 in the same manner - Black Friday deal that I couldn't pass up. Lowest I've ever seen for ZTs too. I think mine was $170 and the more rare finishes (like yours) were $180. Seeing current 0609 prices does put a smile on my face too.Sharp Guy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 7:04 pmIt was actually the only time I've seen ZT models that low. True words! The 4max Scout is the one CS knife everyone should own. It does not get enough praise, IMO.
the standard version is less than $75 on amazon. that's about a third of what the shaman costs. i don't understand why anyone buys the shaman.
Probably because it’s half the weight… y’all have me intrigued by this now. Never looked at it seriouslyladybug93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 12:19 pmthe standard version is less than $75 on amazon. that's about a third of what the shaman costs. i don't understand why anyone buys the shaman.
I was intrigued too, and especially at the $80 price on Amazon. But thought about if for a minute and remembered that I sold my Manix XL because it was too wide in the pocket. That has definitely tempered my enthusiasm.prndltech wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 3:15 pmProbably because it’s half the weight… y’all have me intrigued by this now. sure, it's bulky and heavy. the point is, if you want a heavy duty knife, it should be heavy duty. i can beat on the 4max all day and not care about it because it's made to be beat on. the shaman is too expensive for a beater knife and not really bulky enough to be a serious hard use tool like the 4max scout is. but, the shaman is also too thick to be a good edc slicer. it's like an awkward teenager in a terrible in-between stage. if i want a hard use knife, i use the 4max. if i want an edc knife, i use my manix. both are far better than the shaman, in my opinion.prndltech wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 3:15 pmProbably because it’s half the weight… y’all have me intrigued by this now. i won't lie... you feel every one of those ten ounces. it's definitely heavy and bulky. it's the largest pocket knife i feel like i can actually carry without feeling completely ridiculous. i do carry it some days for fun, but it's usually more of a hiking knife for me for when i might be processing wood or just want to feel like rambo. for the woods though, it's often a tough choice between the 4max and rajah ii.Capt'n Boatsalot wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 3:34 pmI was intrigued too, and especially at the $80 price on Amazon. You may be talking me into ordering one just to say I have a 10 oz folding knifeladybug93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 3:40 pmi won't lie... you feel every one of those ten ounces. it's definitely heavy and bulky. it's the largest pocket knife i feel like i can actually carry without feeling completely ridiculous. i do carry it some days for fun, but it's usually more of a hiking knife for me for when i might be processing wood or just want to feel like rambo. for the woods though, it's often a tough choice between the 4max and rajah ii.Capt'n Boatsalot wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 3:34 pmI was intrigued too, and especially at the $80 price on Amazon.
