Frightening.
It has a lot of potential, but if you think that people have issues with privacy now wait until this becomes a reality.

I don’t like it.

As always, mankind’s technological development is far outpacing its moral/ethical development. If something can be abused, IT WILL BE.

I'm with you!

On my desktop and my mom's desktop, I turned off Microsoft Cortana and unplugged our camera/microphone because I don't trust the system.

I leave my Samsung cellphone off unless I'm using it so that it cannot listen to me. I have the app "dots" a camera and microphone surveillance/awareness app that tells me when the phone accesses the camera and microphone and I do not care for it at all, it does it all of the time.

I'll use the tools available or buy them on my terms. No chips are going to be embed under my skin.

Very creepy stuff...earlier in the summer we were thinking of taking a trip to Ocean City, Maryland and were talking about it for a few days. We don't have any sync'd i pads/phones or any of that stuff. But we do have a smart tv. All the sudden out of the blue we kept getting commercials for taking trips to Ocean City! Definitely creeped both my wife and myself out a bit. Technology is getting a little TOO advanced these days.

If you turn off Cortana it doesn't guarantee that will not listen to you and transmit data, it will probably just stop responding to your questions, mute but still listening.

NSA was involved in development of Windows 7 and later and from here the only limit is your imagination...

https://www.computerweekly.com/news/252 ... -questions

Also Google is tracking you even if you turn location services off and everything else off.
And I'm pretty sure they can record sound no matter what you turn off on that phone.
Even if you turn off the phone the battery and microphone and gps are still there...

I think there are gateways that have been left open intentionally at low level in the operating systems not only for business purposes but also on request by security services, like NSA...

I think this is one of the reasons Symbian was killed with the help of Stephen Elop sent by Microsoft, they didn't control that source code so Symbian had to go.

On the other hand don't think they will listen to ordinary people like you or me, they are listening/tracking individuals of high-interest for them: foreign and local politicians, high-level finance, criminals, terrorists...whistle-blowers, activists or any other person that is considered a threat to the system...

I wonder how they decide whether certain people are worth monitoring more closely.

If you have a few hours I recommend you buy a couple of books by Greenwald on Snowden and then start with "List of government mass surveillance projects" on Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_g ... e_projects

If there are 7.5 billion people on the planet the "Five Eyes" are spying on 7.5 billion right now and have been since September 11, 2001.

Biden wants your bank records. The NSA and CIA are laughing because they already can access them at will along with all of your emails, tap your phones on the fly, use satellites to spy on you, get to all of your medical records, and then if they want to get to know you, scream at you, or toss you around for a few hours the FBI simply calls you up and tells you to come down for an interrogation.

DON'T ASK HOW I KNOW. :shush

I had tests run to see if I needed a pacemaker with a defibrillator within the last year. I'll be danged if I'll let them put one in me that has any connectivity to the Internet. Those devices are terrifying! They are not hardened devices and hackers can kill you if you have one in you.

This is why I'm trying to lose weight and get in shape. It's my wake-up call!

By whether or not you voted for the guy/gal in office.

Often followed by an IRS audit.

Probably based on what you post online.

60 Minutes had a segment on this. Basically we are doomed if we go down this path.

Yuval Harari warns humans will be "hacked" if artificial intelligence is not globally regulated

Harari says global cooperation is needed to prevent human data from getting into the hands of a powerful few. 60 Minutes reports, Sunday.

The future could see the world's human data, delivered through the rising power and reach of artificial intelligence, in the hands of a powerful few - a recipe for a dystopian tomorrow populated by "hacked humans," says Yuval Noah Harari. The world-renowned author tells Anderson Cooper nations must begin cooperating to prevent this by regulating artificial intelligence and the collection of data across all nations. The interview with Harari will be broadcast on 60 Minutes, Sunday October 31, at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

Harari says the countries and companies that control the most data will control the world.

"The world is increasingly kind of cut up into spheres of data collection, of data harvesting. In the Cold War, you had the Iron Curtain. Now we have the Silicon Curtain, that the world is increasingly divided between the USA and China," Harari tells Cooper. "Does your data go to California or does it go to Shenzhen and to Shanghai and to Beijing?"
