Who speaks for the bear?!!!!!
Defend the Right to Keep Bears Armed! RKBA
Not to detract from the man who stood up to the bear but the critter actually sounded at the end of his ability to survive. Check out the Animal Attack Files at http://www.igorilla.com/gorilla/animal/ other reports. It's a jungle out there!

I tend to use a tight weave net for bears. One can catch them with little harm to the bear and then stroke them at ones leisure. I then tend to stick the bear, with small brass pins, into my albums. Nanny Webster brings me tea and buttered scones as I pin them down. Or 'One Arm, One Eye' Webster as we call her since the bear objected to being pinned.

Let's not feel sorry for Mr. Bear ...
I remember a time about 12 years ago when I was hunting with a 22 for squirrel in a Louisiana swamp bottom ... yep, I'm originally from Louisiana. It was a cold fall day so I was dressed in normal hunting garb plus a mesh camo outfit on top. I had been waiting under an acorn tree for a bit when I heard a bunch of racket ..., and low and behold ... a decent sized black bear came into view about 50 yards away ....... fortunately upwind. I stayed frozen .. and he .. or she ... never sensed me. I was not looking forward to any sort of "bear" encounter with a 22 rifle or with my Buck Folding Hunter (which is what I carried back then). The bear moved on within 5 minutes, but I didn't move for nearly 30... The rest of the day was uneventful ... I didn't manage to bag a single squirrel that afternoon... I've never forgotten it though.

Al <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>!
Aye - but the key is keeping them armed!!What with folks wearing them bear claw necklaces, people eating bear claws at breakfast (reminds me of the practice of shark finning) bearskin rugs, and Danzo pokin' em with brass pins thereby destroying their collectible value just to have an unuasual conversation piece to parade before his tea guzzling cronies, it's just becoming....well unbearable. Bears are an unrenewable natural resource - that should be fairly obvious since Smoky never had any young 'uns. (Rumor was, every time his wife got hot, he'd beat her with a shovel) And with all them fires in California I recall the bittersweet words of the Old Smoke when he said - "Remember, forest fires prevent bears!" Somehow sadly prophetic when I think about it now. So I say - Save the bears! Collect the whole set! (Danzo - Pass me one a them buttered scones and don't try an Bogart that marmalade, ya rascaly bear-netter!)
RKBA a proud natural subset of the RKDA!

Well, God gave man the right to hunt animals for his needs... but I guess He was reffering to basic needs like food, clothes aso. (which is mostly no longer the case now), not to entertainment. That's why I dislike (and I am against) hunting.
