Rehash : PE, CE or SE?

Okay, sound off!

Me : SE ( not much in the "total utility" dept. of PE ; CE runs a close second for me.)

i think each has it's own qualities, the best cutter of them all has to be SE though, PE i like because it is very easy to sharpen and it has a nice shearing quality. but my fav hands down would have to be SE

steel is unforgiving... sharp steel even more so

PE works best for the things I normally do with a pocket knife (trying to visualize what it would be like to peel an apple with a spyderedge), and it's easy to sharpen. Mostly a case of it being what I'm use to.

Plain-edge for my "utility" folders, and fully-serrated for my "defensive/offensive" folders.

PE for EDC because it's easier to sharpen with a pocket hone. SE for self defence or very heavy duty cutting.

Dear Allen,
That's quite a question you've posted here. It's difficult for me to answer, because the same knife turns into something different if you put a different edge on it. I think it's like asking if you like more a Porsche or a Hummer, when you may like them both.
Frankly, I don't care much about CE. They say it's best of both worlds, but I say it's half of the best of both worlds.
I have my trusty SE Delica which is my very EDC. Unfortunately, I'm not very keen at sharpening those serrations. That's why I just love my Calypso jr. in PE. Both became my EDC's now and I find the suitable task for each of them. I think it's a better solution rather than carying a CE.

I'm a fan of the spyder edge. So long as it's kept very sharp, I can do most things with it I can do with a plain edge. It takes some practice to learn to use it that way, but I've always done very well with one. Probably my next one will be plain edge, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the spyder edge for every day tasks.

When in comes to Spyderco knives, serrated. They are the only knife company that seems to understand serrations on folding knives. Any other brand of knives that happen into my collection are plainedge only.

I like the Combo Edge. So far, there's been no task that I couldn't perform with it.

Spyderco seems to have the best serrations in the knife industry, and they're not difficult to keep sharp.

The only , in CE, that I tend to go with is the Military. However, I lean more toward PE since it is easier to sharpen out in the field. I do also have a few Spydies with the full SE, though, if I REALLY need to cut **** up!
