"Q" Collectors, check out Knife World

#1

Post by Joyce Laituri »

Hi Everybody,

Many of you who collect "Q" models have asked us for "Q" information, history, models made et al....One of our R&D engineers (Barry Carithers) wrote and submitted an article on "The history of the Spyderco "Q". It will be the cover story for the December issue of KNIFE WORLD.

Check it out!

The real question is whether Barry was able to locate the "Q"s that he was looking for.

For pictures of some of the "Q"s scroll down on my webpage. More pics coming soon.

...WOW I think I need that Q with the Marlin/sailfish on it. You wouldn't be interested in selling that one would you?

I don't own all of the "Q"s that I have pictures of. My purpose is to provide a resource for fellow collectors. I certainly wouldn't mind owning some of the ones pictured. I have been in contact with other collectors that are trying to catch all the "Q"s that they can, and they send me the occasional picture. Thanks.

Does anybody know if the elusive Ferrari or Playboy prototype "Q"s were ever seen? Did Barry come across any really unique "Q"s in the research for the article?

I shared Barry's wish for the "Q" to be brought back or improved upon. He brought his article over to SFO 4-5 months ago and asked me to proof read it and let him know of any other info on the subject. All I had to contribute was the little flyers that Ironstone had made up for the Hawaiian models ('98 Marlin and '99 Volcano). I believe the title of his article is "The Quintessential Q." I give it a "2 thumbs up." <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
"Gobble, Gobble...."

Hint: SFO always use to get their order of different knife magazines to sell before the ELU.

Does anyone know if this publication is available online or elsewhere? My local outlets don't carry this magazine.
Thanks,
Chris

bigcat,
I thought of that, but my concern is they would start me with January's issue. They say to wait 3-6 weeks for first delivery.
Thanks I may do it anyways.

I gave Knifeworld a phone call. Their number is on the website. They were happy to send me a copy of the December KnifeWorld for $5.00. It arrived within a week. They also told me they do not sell their paper at many local magazine stands, mostly subscription.

Thanks Rawd. I did sign up for the free trial, but that sounds like the fastest way to get one.
