Sal for a day

Post by Luvbug »

Pretend you're Sal for a day...

What design--changes to currently existing or just in your fevered mind--would you green light?

I'll get the party started by suggesting mixing some growth hormone into a couple existing models.

How about a C41 (Native III, Golden) with a blade length only a spider's leg shy of 4"?

Or, for your consideration, a Scorpius on steroids. Sub titanium for the ss and generally enlarge to house a bigger blade.

Any ideas from frustrated designers out there?

I would have to add some short runs of differant colors.
Desert Tan Military and Native
Blue, green or orange Dragonflies and crickets
Larger kiwi with a clip
Aniversery type delica with steel bolster green or black canvas micarta or bone scales with a clip.

I learn something new everyday, even though I don't want to. Jeff

I'd put both macarta Calypso & Jr (both in VG-10)back in the line up, since the current line up is lacking in macarta folders. RKBA!

Oh yeah, I would do a luxury version of the Delica and Endura with the fantastic San Mai style Damascus VG-10 Gold steel.
Now that would be a looker AND a cutter!

Clipits work!

Thank you for the topic <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
There are some things I'd try:
1. FRN Calypso jr. back in production with some minor improvements (S30V steel, Golden made with the "Earth" etching, slightly modified handles).
2. FRN Navigator, (optionally with a LED microlight enclosed in the handles)
3. A smaller Military (no, not the Paramilitary, but the classic Millie, with nested linerlock, ball detent and S30V steel, scaled down to 3/4 ÷ 2/3 its original size).
4. PE Ladybug (again) <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I would search for an old C32PS Spur somewhere in Spydie land, because I can't find it anywhere else :-((((

Okay, I'm Sal for a day. I wake up and spend the morning basking in the glory and splendor of the Spyderco empire, my every whim being catered to by a bevy of nubile beauties, my breakfast a feast of the best that my team of on-call chefs has to offer. Thus ready to face the day, I ride in the back of my limo to the office.

Having thus arrived, I spend the rest of the day on the phone with Jerry Hossom trying to get him to join my design team.

[Note: I may have taken some license in describing Sal's actual morning]

One wonders how Sal would get anything else done <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Forum-giveaways each week!!! I would play with G-10 colours a bit, bring back the G-10 Bob T, put a rush on the Spydiefly(whilst making them legal in Canada, we are pretending here aren't we???) and Yojimbo.

These threads are always fun. First, I'd give Joyce and Patti a big, big raise or bonus. Then I would shoot off a non-revocable memo to the factory instructing them to start the production of a Wegner Magnum. Finally, I would commission "toothed" (I like that guy) to be the sole designer of the next forum knife. Oh, and I would say to toothed that "money is no object" and to "go for it!" Z-Z-Z-Z-Z (Wake me when this dream is over).

I would still like to see the Almite Walkers & "Q's" re-introduced.

OK. First off, let's try a medium-Dyad, say 4" closed. One clip, one spear, both in S30V. Jigged bone grips, with nickel silver mounts, and no lock.

Second. We haven't had a giveaway on here for a while. Let's change that. <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Fly, anyone?<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

The Man's Prayer- I am a man. But I can change. If I have to. I guess...
