Every time this subject comes up I check ebay and there's always at least one SE Military listed.

Just did it again and sure enough, there's multiples listed there.

If it's a grail then just watch ebay, they're not hard to find at all. If I can find a 600 piece sprint run C95, you can find a SE Millie 1.
I tried and failed. Linky?

How can I not find these things? XD Thanks. :-) Although they are used AND expensive and I would still like a modern, CQI, new Millie with a current SE supersteel (and with non black G-10 scales, but I think I would swap them out with custom ones).. anyway I obviously don't want an impossibility. Even as a sprint run.

Unless...

The ulterior motive is to phase out the Military completely and all the cool features and steels will be released with the comp lock Military only. And then it will be easy to point at the diminishing sale numbers and say "the market has spoken", before discontinuing the liner lock Millie. That would be disingenuous. I maintain that a comp lock Military is not a Military. It is a PM2 XL.

The market has already spoken. The Para Military 2 is vastly more popular than the Military. The Military 2 is more like the Para Military 2. Sal is just a super cool guy by not discontinuing the Millie 1 immediately upon the release of the Millie 2.

Well let me PM Sal to let him know he named his design wrong.

Why is this so controversial? The bread and butter Delica and Endura have been changed four or more times and the prior versions were discontinued. The Military 1 is co-existing (at least for awhile) with the Military 2.

I guess because I'm not a fan of the design, having only one, I don't get it.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

exactly. what's the issue? if you prefer the m1 to a knife you haven't even held yet, "the foreseeable future" is plenty of time for you to get however many you feel you need.

I have no clue.

The para 2 is based on the para, which is a scaled down version of the Military. I feel like people here are definitely forgetting that.

Either way, it's one thing to say the design draws more inspiration from the PM2 than the Military. But it's another to say Sal named his design wrong, that's kind of disrespectful.

If Sal named it the Rainbow Unicorn, then that would be the name of this knife. His knife, his name. What's so controversial about it?

Pretty cool Reveal.

Does anybody think the MicroJimbo will come out in a different steel (e.g. S45VN)? Why specifically S30V?

K294 Mule looks interesting.

I hate to think how expensive the damascus S2XL might be!

About $287, according to a couple distributors (KnifeCenter and DLT).

I've grown more and more interested in this sprint, although this price point is quite a bit out of my personal expenditure limitations :grimace...

I might have to make an exception, this time 'round :grin-sweat. If I pull the trigger on this one, it will just make the Cruwear variant less out of mental reach though. The agony continues :dizzy.

Could be worse…? However, my dream would be to pick one up when discounted below that street price, if the demand proves to not be enormously high. It’s not even my preferred core steel - oh well.

Anybody have thoughts as to the MicroJimbo steel choice?

Why not S30V? It's perfectly fine, great even.

I probably would have gone with BD1N or LC200N, but S30V is fine for the role of a part time SD & utility knife. Some people can make it rust which is why I would have selected a more rust resistant steel.

Quite expensive, but I'm sure it was quite a feat getting the 31 layer damascus into this package. Eric also mentioned in the KnifeCenter Blade Show (2023) video that this Nishijin is the last of the stock that they have from ~15 years ago and is the exact same that has been featured in all of the blue Nishijin sprints over the years. I'm not so sure this one will "stick around" long enough to become deeply discounted, or even reach a deep discount, because of these factors. I've heard nothing short of rave reports from those who have purchased any of these Nishijin sprints.

Vg-10 is no scrap metal, itself.

No comment on S30V/S45VN.

You are correct, of course. I just feel S45VN doesn’t sacrifice too much in comparison.

Is it considerably more expensive?

Also a fair point. Goes to show that there are all kinds of alloys for all kinds of applications. Can’t keep everyone happy.

I would personally say MagnaCut, in fact probably Vanax, for a rust resistant option. Haha.
