<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> AllenETreat,

Fine words and you get nothing but full agreement from me. I think that the fellowship between me and other retired service members, as well as active, is exemplified by the friendly ribbing <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> .

I have to tell you that the quote you posted of Shakespeare's Henry V gives me chills each and every time I read or hear it. Tis' a great day when no law enforcement entity is needed in the world. It is wishful thinking to expect this to happen before I die.

My sinceriest apologizes if you got the impression that I don't appreciate anyone from other branches of service. If you were just ribbing me right back...we got names for people like you in the Navy!! <----just kidding!

With that all said and done...you are my brother!

Edited for clarity (not so much for spelling, this time, even though it should)

TQ

<b>Travis</b>,
I'm with you on the friendly ribbing and from experience; I can say it extends to our allies as well. Having worked with the Royal Air Force, the Royal Australian Air Force, Canadian Air Force, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, the Singaporean AF, the Royal Thai AF and Army, the ROK Army, the Philippine Army and Air Forces, and all of my "sister" services, I can say that the bard's band of brothers was meant to stretch beyond mere "servitude to the U.S." - it extends to ALL of our brothers in arms. We have all sworn our oaths and served a higher calling - a sacred duty to freedom loving peoples the world over, if you will. "The Price" has always been recognized and accepted as part of our trust, our oath to defend. The rivalries just help to take the edge off. Plus you learn to respect the other services and other countries services' culture and approach to their job. So here's all my brothers in arms and to fellow "zoomie", Jurphaas, - Here's to Queen Beatrix and the Netherlands for your unswerving support and for putting our F-15 flyboys up at CNA. I'll stand for Het Wilhelmus and toast yours and Travis’ health with an Oranjeboom any day! As for the NBG descriptor:

Here's to Mr. Travis Quaas
Baddest dude there ever was.
Laughing in the face of danger
He sends out knives to total strangers
He’ll hold you in his steely gaze and assume a haughty stance
While daring you to try and name the Spydies in his pants
"He's sooo bad" the ladies swoon. Stout-hearted men give pause
For when he walks into the room they know it's Travis Quaas

Sorry, Travis. I had to edit and share. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> And here's to your wishful thinking! We may compete good-naturedly with each other and prepare for eventual combat but it is we the - the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who are the ones who least want to see war's devastation. The Baha'u'lla had the right perspective:

"<b><i>It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens.</b></i>"

Travis :

No, it's just that during my TDY, I noted the
inter-service rivalry and found it not to my liking. Java makes a good point about ALL
military folks being "brothers in arms", indeed, I found it hard to think I'd have to
kill some Russian soldier who(m) was sent by
a **** politician for political reason(s).

What I was trying to say is, We service people are oft forgotten ( ESPECIALLY if We
serve in time of conflict ) but among Us, it
not forgotten. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> ( Hence the Shakespeare quote )

Java :

Ditto. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

What do I have on my person today?

R/F : SE DoDo

L/F : PE Meerkat ( 440C )

R/F coat pocket : The ever faithful Cricket SE <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
