Next GOLDEN ERA Sprint Run Desired?
Next GOLDEN ERA Sprint Run Desired?
Well with the moderate to good success we just had with the C-60 Cruwear Ayoob model I think it's high time we discuss another GOLDEN ERA ( 1998-2004), Old School model we would all like to target for another possible Sprint Run. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am personally that Mr. Glesser and the Spyderco crew made the C-60 Cruwear Ayoob Sprint Run a reality. I can't quit playing with the serrated version>> it is a superb design needless to say.
I've been thinking about the next possible model to target for a Sprint Run. A few of them that I'm finding appealing are the C-56 Zowada, The KRIS model, The C-42 Viele, The Spyker or maybe even a new edition of the SUPERHAWK ( hopefully with TEETH next time). But it doesn't have to be confined to only those models. Maybe you all have some GOLDEN ERA ( 1998-2004) models that you all like even better.
There's just something really special about those late 90s/early 2000s models that really helped to put Spyderco in the forefront of the knife industry. OK Let's TALK!!

JD Smith, Calypso, All SS Scorpius for me. (the one resembling a dolphin head with lanyard hole further back. )

Re: Next GOLDEN ERA Sprint Run Desired?
Larry you are speaking of the big, first run C-54 Calypso aren't you?. Yeah I could high five that one myself. But only if we could have both edge types. Because I could still kick myself for trading my full SE, C-54 Calypso model. That C-54 with TEETH was like having a small chain saw in my pocket.Larry_Mott wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 6:56 amJD Smith, Calypso, All SS Scorpius for me. Re: Next GOLDEN ERA Sprint Run Desired?
I would like to see a Calypso too, but don't forget Sal is working on an updated design of the Calypso (Caly 4 maybe) that he feels is more refined. I would like to see that first.

Re: Next GOLDEN ERA Sprint Run Desired?
The Superhawk came out between 2008 -2009 , does it still qualify ? Calypso in either size sounds interesting . As much as I love the JD Smith and want one there was a gray G10 run so not sure how much interest be for the model . MG2

I know I mentioned this before but I would love to see an Ed Schempp barong, kukri or kris (or all of them).

Re: Next GOLDEN ERA Sprint Run Desired?
i feel like this question has been asked already... didn't you start another thread on this already, or was it just a discussion within the everlasting ayoob thread?
i've answered at least a couple of times that i'd like to see the dodo brought back. i know bhq did an exclusive in m4, but i'd like to see this design in a stainless and something that is good in pe and se.
looking back through the disco'd catalog, it seems most of the old models that interest me were made in the 2008-2014 time frame. i'd like a chance to get a khukuri, a kiwi 4, an equilibrium, a balance, a byrd wings slipit, an air, and probably a few others.

Re: Next GOLDEN ERA Sprint Run Desired?
I consider around 2009-2020 to be their Golden Era. So with that said bring on another PPT Perrin sprint!!! We’ve only had two sprints of this knife and yet it deserves as many variations as a Paramilitary 2! What are they waiting for!

That was a good time for different designs, wish I was around for it. I wouldn't mind seeing an updated Salsa and Vesuvius along with the ones you mentioned.ladybug93 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:08 ami feel like this question has been asked already... didn't you start another thread on this already, or was it just a discussion within the everlasting ayoob thread?

It seems this subject keeps getting talked about but no traction . Why not narrow down models and do a poll ? This subject will never satisfy everyone. MG2

Or....just make a newer, modern version full size Tim Wegner with K390 and be done with it!Manixguy@1994 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:22 amIt seems this subject keeps getting talked about but no traction . Why not narrow down models and do a poll ? This subject will never satisfy everyone. MG2
Re: Next GOLDEN ERA Sprint Run Desired?
Tim Wegners designs were eventually sold through a brand called “blade tech” so I’m not sure if Spyderco would ever be able to (or willing to) remake any of his designs but I would absolutely love to have a version, new or old, of the Spyderco Mouse.benben wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:37 amOr....just make a newer, modern version full size Tim Wegner with K390 and be done with it!Manixguy@1994 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:22 amIt seems this subject keeps getting talked about but no traction . Re: Next GOLDEN ERA Sprint Run Desired?
I'd vote for a kris. I missed it the first time around and it's one of the few knives I kick myself for not picking up. Add a damascus persian to the list while I'm dreaming of sprint runs.

I agree , I think that ship has sailed . I don’t think the Blade Tech line is still in production.
