I just happened to be flipping through the "locking folding" section of the SFO last night at around 10:30pmish, (probably for the 10th time that night), and I noticed that the knife order changed and lo and behold, there it was, the Thor SpyOpera! I was totally shocked and thought this wouldn't be out for a while. I immediately placed my order without hesitation and posted the drop on Facebook. I hope it's as good as it looks because I don't have any Italian made knives, including Spydercos. Thanks again, Sal and Spyderco for making my day!

The regular production SpyOpera has one of the smoothest opening actions of any knife I own. It rivals the Sage 3 and it’s a backlock! I would imagine this version will be equally as smooth.

Beautiful piece. Look at the placement of the lanyard hole and crowned blade. The Damascus pattern goes well with the real Carbon Fiber.

The street price of $406 is a bit rich so I'm hoping to get one at a price similar to the OpFocus one, that is, around $290. If it happens great and if not I'll pass.

The regular SpyOpera with M390 & Micarta is also very nice and the street price is $183.75. I got one in 2020 for $157.50 and another one during the Black Friday Deals in 2022 for $128.63 (51% off MSRP)!

I did the same thing for my Stovepipe which had a street price of $420 in November 2022 (it's $448 now) and got one for $300 (50% off MSRP).

If I recall correctly, LionSteel does their Damasteel DS93X (RWL 34 + PMC 27) at 58-59 HRC.

Here’s the data sheet for DS93X from DamaSteel (56-61 HRC):

I was looking at the LionSteel TRE in Thor Damasteel and the stat sheet states the HRC @ 61. Wouldn't it be the same for the SpyOpera?

Do you have a link?

LionSteel TRE comes in two types of Damascus: Chad Nichols Damascus and Damasteel Thor Damascus.

As I mentioned, LionSteel TRE Damascus comes in two steel varieties: Chad Nichols & Damasteel.

TRE DT is Damasteel Thor Damascus.
TRE DR is Chad Nichols Raindrop Damascus.

It looks like Knives and Tools copied some information incorrectly. Look at TRE DR and it says Damasteel but it's actually Chad Nichols.

I received my Damasteel SpyOpera yesterday and it’s a very nice piece, albeit with a pretty hefty price tag. The fit and finish are top notch, and I do like the pattern of the Thor Damasteel on this one, especially towards the tip of the blade where it’s sort of reminiscent of a WWII-style plane paint job. Hopefully we’ll see a few more examples of these in the wild! Cheers, Radioactive

Patience paid off on this one.

SpyOpera Damasteel & CF Sprint for $284.20 which includes shipping & sales tax! That’s 51% off MSRP.
