POLICE-Men: Help
POLICE-Men: Help
Hi Folks.
I'd like to buy a folder for self defense. Size does matter, so I'd like to buy the full size.I carry a Native for everyday use and for general utility. What I need is a powerful backup, slim enough to thrust, long enugh to cut.I know that a one-piece'd be great for the job, but I think I can carry a folding knife more easily than a MOD Razorback.Which one to choose? Should I take a Civilian,Matriarch, a Police or a Military? Plain or serrated blade? Stainless steel or G-10 for handle material? If YOU can help, please.Thank You.

If you like the MOD razorback, but only think that it is unconvenient to carry, I would suggest the new Ayoob folder by Spyderco. It has a very similar profile to the Razorback, but it folds and has a nice radical blade/handle angle, for positive alignment of the hand and wrist. You have to see it, maybe a search on BladeForums.com (Knife Reviews or the Spyderco Forum there) will provide an image.

Thank you for the replies, Folks.
The only problem with the Chinook is that it isn't detechable so I can't cleen it porperly. The tanto is a bit small although got a strenght tip. The "Ayoob" looks pretty good but I can't find one around me.So far.But hey, what about the Civilian or the Starmate. Or even the Matriarch.Has anybody got any performance cutting experience w them?
Any suggestions are welcome.

Dood, it aint worth going out and buying a knife for self defense. Its just not allowed theses days, not after all that columbine crap ect. And if you were to pull it on someone, Bam theses felony menecing right there and if you were to use it thats attempted murder. Trust me ive been there done that. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Since both the Civilian and Matriarch have a serrated edge I would choose serrated. I have also cut my finger on serration just from brushing the edge. Think of the differance when cutting bread or meat with a plain blade verses a serrated blade. The serrated make quicker work of the bread and meat.
