Magnacut or Bust Wishlist

#1

Post by BeggarSo »

DLC Will also earn an instant purchase in addition to Satin finish. As I replace my current Spyderco models with Magnacut the current models will get sold. Yes all the CTS204P. Elmax, M390, 20CV, S90V, H1, CTSBDN, S45VN,M4,S35VN, Cruwear, CTS-XHP, VG-10 & S110V.

Lol but I am not parting with S30V.

#1. Native SE... Put a checkmark on that one = obtained but only because it was the only one available, while I recognize the long history of FRN on this model and respect others taste that like FRN I for one prefer G-10 Liner models or Micarta. Light weight and FRN are not for me nor are smooth scales. I also like Carbon fiber.

So here is my list and I will commit to buying which could be 4 of each if DLC is offered.

#1A Native SE & PE with G-10 handles

#2. Military2 SE & PE

#3 Military2 Wharncliffe SE & PE

#5 PM2 Wharncliffe SE & PE

#6. PM3 SE

#7. Manix XL SE & PE

#8. Native Chief SE & PE

#9. Hundred Pacer SE & PE

#10. Kapara SE & PE

So those are 10 off of the top of my head that I will commit to purchase.

What are your picks?

Interesting, no Seki models on the list. Pretty much any Seki model would be great in this steel (Hi, Lil' Temp 3 LW!). I'd like to see a Wharnie Delica Salt as a more reasonable choice though.

Yojimbo 2 would be awesome model to take advantage of magnacut's toughness and corrosion resistance.

i just want a manix in magnacut for now, but i would definitely get other models as well as long as they're not astronimically priced.

I'd buy both Autonomy 1 and 2 in MagnaCut if they made them.

Definitely a Military, 1 or 2 or maybe both.

Caribbean for sure.

Honestly I'd be in financial trouble if they decided to just make MagnaCut their standard production steel and it became as ubiquitous as S30V/VG10. I would still buy and enjoy playing around with other steels but this would be my primary user steel in everyday carry knives.

Anything big and durable for me -

Military 2 PE & SE

Military 2 Tanto Salt

Military 2 Bowie (the one from ‘that video’)

Manix 2 XL PE & SE

Tatanka

If any of the above become a reality I’ll be very happy. If the M2 Tanto or Bowie become a reality I might do a little wee I’d be so excited.

If there is one knife that I wish could be made in MagnaCut, it would be the discontinued Mantra 2. My favorite EDC by far. Don't get me wrong.........M4 is great stuff, but as a surf fisherman, an all around surf & turf MagnaCut Mantra 2 version is splurge worthy.

Afraid to ask this question as I don't want to derail the thread, but why would you believe this?

Since it's salt rated, definitely Caribbean and the Autonomy. I think a better question is what model wouldn't you want it in? I wouldn't give up a tool steel for it necessarily, but really unless there are faults we don't know about yet, this steel could become the standard stainless.

Because it is focused on being rust proof. H1 does this well without being too wear resistant to sharpen well.

From my couple days with spy27 im seing it holds an edge well and sharpens quick.
