When will Manix L’s with screws actually be available?

#1

Post by Frankie2blue »

I really want a Manix LW in Spy 27 because I like the steel and I like the Teal/ sea foam color, but I refuse to buy one with pinned construction. I know I can get a great deal on a pinned version in a few places, but I’m still not interested at any price. Anyone know for sure of any that are out there in stores for sale? Everyone I have researched of the big sellers are all still pinned, though some say they have seen the screw construction ones trickling through. I figure they are trying to get rid of all the old stock before changing over, but I really don’t feel like buying a new knife and then putting it on the drill press right away, and I know that’s exactly what I would do.

as far as i know, they're already out. you just need to call the dealer and ask for sure if they have them to make sure you get one with screws though. it will be a while before the pinned versions are all sold out.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Yes I have called a lot of the larger dealers and none available. Or at least that’s what they are telling me.

It's my understanding, that Spyderco will only run the LW CQI Manix 2's as they come up on the schedule to be done. If for example, the stock levels are high on the Maxamet version. They won't run any of them in the CQI version, until they 'need' to. :bug-red-white

The BD1N was first. In both satin and DLC. The SPY27 was run next, and I get mine (CQI Manix 2 LW) on eBay, from robcoknivesllc.

The one I saw at the SFO today was screw construction.

Okay, I finally found one at the Cutlery Shoppe. Interestingly enough they had both pinned construction and screw construction in stock with different codes on the numbers. They just told me to specify what I wanted when I ordered. Extremely fast shipping and all is good. :smlling-eyes

National Knives also have screwed construction available and old style . They clearly note each version separately. MG2

I bought one last week from the Spyderco Factor Outlet site (Manix 2 LW in Spy27), and it's screwed.

Hmmmm, I certainly didn’t see that. I have bought a number of knives from National and also knew they had the pinned version on a terrific sale, but I never saw where they were offering the screwed versions. Anyway, the Cutlery Shoppe was extremely fast and efficient and my knife is perfect so I am very happy.

I think Dan is talking about the SPY27 versions where they label the product description.

154.00 to my door from Cutlery Shoppe. Had it in my hands in 3 days with a bunch of nice swag included. And they were nice enough to tell me upfront they had both versions and would make sure I received the screw construction version that I wanted.

Knivesandtools.nl has both the spy 27 and s110v version screwed for the same price. I had ordered the 27 but that was when the s110v was sold out. Had the s110v 2 times already, lost one and bought it and found it back so give to a friend.

I know nothing of spy except it is easy to sharpen but I'm in doubt whether to cancel the spy and get the s110v again. What do you guys recommend?
