New here and to Spyderco.

#1

Post by mongo1958 »

Hello,
I’m new here and while I’m not a stranger to all things sharp and pointy, I am new to the Spyderco.
I work in the Aerospace industry and have been for 43 years. I have always had some form of blade in my pocket, toolbox and tool pouch. I even have a knife in my truck if I need to cut my way out of my seat belt.
Recently I was compelled to get a Dark Blue Parra 3 S110V. Once the Parra 3 hit my hand I knew it was a good knife. I’m still working on the Spydey Flick ;) . Any way This knife is now one of my all-time favorite knives now. I have other brands that I like as well but this in the first Spyderco that I’ve ever owned. I can see why it is so popular. I also have a Parra-military 2 heading to the house. The PM2 was a tougher choice because there are a few knives that Spyderco makes that compete with it, at least to me. The Shaman and the Manix 2 were in the hunt but I liked the PM2’s blade better.
Thanks,
Stay Sharp.

Wellcome! :smlling-eyes

And just so you know: Not too long from now you'll own a Manix and a Shaman too anyway, believe me.. :winking-tongue

(Go for the lightweight with the Manix, just for another flavor than G10)

Welcome, enjoy your stay. Just a friendly warning, PM2s are addictive. Once it’s in your hand you will understand why.

Oh, and check out the salt line as well. Some really neat stuff.

Welcome! Like Freediver mentioned, pm2’s are indeed addicting. Don’t be surprised if you buy a few more in different flavours. Hope you enjoy your stay, there are some fine folks on here who’ve forgotten more about knives than I will ever know!

Welcome to SPYDERVILLE!! This place really grows on you after a while. And be informed that this hobby is quite "habit forming" as well as interacting on this great Forum.

I was actually a Benchmade fanatic first ( mid 90s). But the more I explored the Spyderco brand and the more I got first hand experience with them I quickly switched my allegiance.

I would highly recommend one of the new C-60 Ayoob Sprint Run models. But I think they are about all taken from what I'm hearing. But any of the Golden, Colorado USA Earth made models ( the USA made Spyders) are all really good as well. Enjoy your stay here at Spyderville!!
