I have 4 PM2 already that I carry and use so don't really need another one, but I'll buy a LW model when it comes out.

Yeah, need is out the window here for most of us, I think.

This will be a cool model when it comes out! The PM2 is right at my size preference, and lightweight make a knife more comfortable for me to carry. Stoutness wouldn't be a big issue for me, I like the larger blade for the extra cutting length, not for beefiness, and I don't use folders as survival knives. I edc a small fixed blade for that and it takes care of any rough work if necessary. Best of both worlds for me is to carry a fixed and a folder.

Why make a Survival knife lite? They need to have mussel.🤔
For survival in extreme conditions, fixed blade knives are more suitable! IMHO

Your point is valid be when doo doo happens I would rather have sturdy folder verses nothing or lightweight.

Honestly if packing a 3oz., v/s 5oz folder is killing you, get on diet.

Diet was humor, but like guy who spent $400.00 on Titanium Parts to make Road Bicycle 2 pounds lighter.

They could have diet off 5-10 but cutting junk food, and save big bucks of junk food and lightweight parts.😍
$400 to make a bike 2 lbs lighter is a bargain! :winking-tongue

I too like the Alu model. Got one mostly for the scales, wasn't so sure about the BD1N.

With the prototype out there for a while, and the BHQ Aluminum version being a fully proof of concept, I'm guessing this is mostly waiting on the Golden expansion to be completed. This will be a very popular knife with lots of requests from dealers for exclusives in different colors and steels... Makes sense to me that at this point it waits until they have the extra capacity for the demand.

I'm also thinking it could be very dangerous.
I really liked the Manix 2 G10 models, then I got the LW version and now I like it better. I sold my extra G10 models and bought more LW models. The PM2 G10 is lighter than the Manix 2 G10 so doesn't stand to lose as much weight, but I really don't want to think about replacing all of my PM2 with LW models.
