Poked the tip of my Byrd Hawkbill in the center of a teeny plastic string bead and glued it. Worked very well for those initial outline cuts beneath the skin under the scales. You do need a pointy knife to poked a hole in the skin to get things started, tho. You don't actually need much blade. 1 1/4" fully serrated edge with scallops or teeth of around 1/4-3/16" sounds good. What comes to mind is a small serrated slippie blunt tip hawkbill on the end of the handle of a fillet knife like a waiters cork screw. A little more inside curve would probably make it even better.
